People-Powered: Why QA Intern Reham Alaina Returned for a Second Summer at Hudl

4 min Read

Reham Alaina didn’t want a typical internship. She was looking for a place where her contributions would matter. A place to build real-world experience, be challenged by meaningful work and grow alongside passionate teammates. Hudl stood out immediately.

After traveling from Laredo, Texas to Hudl’s HQ in Lincoln, Nebraska for a successful first internship on the Quality Assurance (QA) team in 2024, she returned for a second summer in May 2025. This time, she brought more confidence, more curiosity and even more impact.

Watch Reham’s interview to hear more of her story in her own words—from her first impressions of Hudl to the experiences that brought her back.

Building Real Products and Real Confidence

Reham’s work on the QA team is anything but surface-level. Each day looks a little different, but her role centers around making sure new features function the way they should before they’re delivered to users. From testing functionality across devices to writing automation code, she’s at the center of quality control.

“If a feature works, I'm the person that can go ahead and ship that to production for real world customers to use, which is really exciting. If it doesn’t, I work directly with the engineer to fix it.”

Her work is hands-on and high stakes. That’s what drew her to Hudl initially—the opportunity to work on real projects, not one-off assignments.

“They don’t give you isolated intern projects, which is something that I found really important because I wanted to contribute to real work. I wanted to make a real impact and learn through a hands-on experience.”

Now, Reham’s not only gaining technical skills but actively contributing to the products Hudl users depend on every day.

A Culture Worth Returning To

For Reham, choosing Hudl a second time came down to the culture. Hudl’s core values like "Play to Win" and "Win Together," aren’t just phrases—she sees them in how teammates support each other and bring their best to every project.

“Our core values are not just words on a wall. [They’re] things that you feel every day when you're in the office.”

That sense of belonging is backed by a work environment where communication is open and feedback is encouraged. One of Hudl’s core values, “Respectfully Blunt,” encourages interns to speak up, challenge assumptions and ask questions. She credits this culture with helping her grow, not just as an intern, but as a communicator and teammate.

When Trust Turns into Opportunity

This summer, Reham is stepping into something new: a trip to Hudl’s London office to collaborate with the Hudl Elite Business Unit that focuses on collegiate and professional-level teams across the world. It’s an experience that reflects how Hudl invests in and empowers its interns, not just observe, but to fully immerse themselves in meaningful ways across teams and time zones.

“The chance to experience a new business unit, the Elite BU, to collaborate with Hudlies abroad and to see how another office operates is something that I'm really looking forward to.”

“I think it highlights how Hudl invests and trusts their interns, which makes the experience even more meaningful.”

Finding Balance in Lincoln

There’s something energizing about being at Hudl HQ in Lincoln. For Reham, it’s a place full of ambition and focus, but also leaves room for social activities like casual in-office games, team lunches and intern events.

“You want to do your best here, not because you have to, but because the people around you inspire you to.”

Outside of work, she finds balance by exploring Lincoln’s food scene and connecting with other interns beyond the office walls. “I love exploring new cultures and cuisines,” she said. “Downtown Lincoln has a bunch of different types of restaurants.”

A standout event for her each summer is the Spikes volleyball tournament—a day spent in the sun that offers interns a fun break from work, a chance to bond and an easy way to recharge together outside of the office.

Advice for Future Interns

Reham has two pieces of advice for anyone considering a Hudl internship: go for it and speak up.

“Do not be afraid to ask questions and to speak up. Hudl is a place where we truly value our interns.”

From her perspective, interns at Hudl are treated like teammates, not temporary help. By staying curious and asking questions, you can get even more out of the experience.

Reham’s story is a clear reminder of what happens when a company places real trust in its interns, and what that kind of environment makes possible.

“I felt like I was a part of something that was bigger than just a summer internship, and I knew I wanted to continue growing in that kind of environment.”
