Titan GPS is now World Rugby Approved
International certification means every Hudl athlete monitoring device now meets the same standard required for official World Rugby competition.
Titan GPS receives the mark
Titan GPS has been awarded the World Rugby Approved mark for athlete monitoring devices. Following independent testing, Titan now meets the performance threshold World Rugby sets for certified equipment – and can be used without restriction in official World Rugby-affiliated matches and training sessions.
Titan's lightweight, low-profile tracker sits comfortably under a jersey or GPS vest, with a fourteen-hour battery that covers a full day of pre-season double sessions without needing to come off between runs.
Across more than 150 metrics: top speed, distance covered, high-speed running thresholds, acceleration, and workload — Titan builds the picture that performance staff need to manage their squad, especially through the rugby season’s congested fixture calendar.
What the mark requires
The World Rugby Approved mark is not self-certified. It requires a device to pass independent testing against World Rugby's published performance specifications — the same standards that apply across all affiliated matches and training environments. Any programme looking to use a wearable device in official World Rugby competition needs equipment that carries the mark.
For coaching and performance staff, it is also a practical threshold. When you are tracking metres carried, tackle counts, and sprint distances across an 80 minute match or an intense pre-season block, you need data you can act on with confidence. The mark is the independent assurance that the device delivers it.
All Hudl GPS devices are now approved
WIMU already holds the World Rugby Approved mark. With Titan now certified, every device in Hudl's athlete monitoring range carries the same independent approval. Whether your programme is equipping an academy squad or a senior international group, it is working from the same verified standard.
How Titan GPS works on the rugby pitch
Rugby union places specific physical demands on players across very different positions and roles. Titan GPS turns those demands into data that coaching and strength & conditioning staff can actually use.
Managing back-row workloads
Track high-intensity metres, tackle impacts, and sprint efforts for your opensides and number eights across the training week — so you know exactly who needs a reduced contact session before matchday.
Monitoring forwards through set piece play
Measure jump loads, contact counts, and acceleration efforts during set-piece sessions. The colour-coded traffic light system flags when a tight-head or lock is accumulating more physical output than planned.
Back-three speed in the defensive line
Capture top speed and distance covered for wings and fullbacks during defensive shape work and kick-chase drills — and use the video-GPS overlay to tie a sprint effort directly to the moment in the footage.
Managing load through busy fixture blocks
Monitor cumulative workloads across a condensed international window. Leaderboards and squad-wide readiness data help staff see who has the legs for 80 minutes — and who needs protecting in the final week of a tournament.
Titan GPS data does not stay buried in a spreadsheet. Titan's visual, coach-ready dashboards and leaderboards surface the right numbers at the right time — and when players see their sprint speeds and effort scores posted, accountability on the training paddock follows.
Rugby union is a market that moves on trust and track record. The World Rugby Approved mark gives us a clear signal to send — Titan has been independently tested, it meets the standard, and it's cleared for use at every level of the affiliated game. For clubs and unions that have been waiting on that confirmation, the door is now open.
