Hudl for Parents is a dedicated view built into the standard Hudl mobile app (iOS and Android) that lets parents follow their athlete’s season. It’s free for parents when their athlete’s team is already on Hudl — no separate app is needed.
With Hudl for Parents, parents get access to their athlete’s team content in a focused view designed just for them. They can follow along all season from the palm of their hand.
Parents connect to Hudl through their athlete’s account. Once connected, they’ll have access to that athlete’s team content automatically.
For Parents: How to Connect
Download the Hudl app (iOS or Android) and create a free account, or log in if you already have one.
- In the app, search for your athlete by name, school, or club, and send a connection request.
- Your athlete will receive a notification and can approve the connection.
- Once approved, you’ll see your athlete’s team content in the Hudl app.
Pro Tip: For multi-athlete households, parents can connect to more than one athlete. Multiple parents can also connect to the same athlete.
Connect to Your Athlete’s Hudl Account
For Club Directors and Coaches
If a parent says they can’t see content, confirm they’re connected to the correct athlete using the User Relationship admin button in Hudl. Also verify the athlete is on a rostered team.

⚠️ This is an important step for club teams! Hudl now requires parents to grant consent before their athlete’s account is fully active. Without consent, under-18 athletes may have limited access to platform features.
What is Parental Consent?
Parental consent is a new requirement for athletes under 18 years old. A parent or legal guardian must approve their athlete’s participation on Hudl before the athlete can access their full account. This protects athletes and ensures guardians are aware of and have approved their child’s use of the platform.
How It Works
- When a coach or director adds an under-18 athlete, Hudl will prompt the athlete to have a parent or guardian grant consent.
- The parent will receive an email or notification to review and approve their athlete’s account.
- Once consent is granted, the athlete gains full access to their Hudl account.
- Parents who are already connected to their athlete’s Hudl account can grant consent directly within the app.
Pro Tip: If an athlete is having trouble accessing their account, check whether parental consent has been granted. This is especially common at the start of the season for new club rosters.
Grant Parental Consent
The parent experience is designed to keep families informed and connected to their athlete’s season — without giving access to coaches’-only content. Parents see only their own athlete’s data, not other players’ information.

Parents can communicate with coaches and admins through Hudl messaging — the same messaging system used by the whole team. This keeps all communication in one place, making it easy for families to stay connected without needing a separate app or group chat.
How Messaging Works for Parents
- Parents receive messages from coaches and admins automatically.
- Parents can reply to messages and initiate new conversations.
- When Athlete Safety is enabled on the team, a coach or admin is always included in any message thread involving a parent.
- Parents cannot see messages between coaches and individual athletes that don’t include them.
Pro Tip: Club directors should ensure Athlete Safety is turned on. This setting protects athletes by requiring a coach or admin to be included in all parent-athlete messaging threads.
