Recently, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation rolled out a plan to drive innovation throughout Moroccan football, by creating an early exposure of modern analysis technology to performance analysts in the country.

The deal between Hudl and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation will provide Level 1 education courses to the analysts of the Federation and also to analysts of the Botola Pro - the top level of club football in Morocco.

To kick off this new exposure, Hudl put on an education workshop. It was here we spoke about the deal with Makroud Ayman, Video Analyst for the Sports Association of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces.

“We came here today for video analysis training held by the Royal Moroccan Soccer Federation for a very interesting tool, Hudl Sportscode,” said Ayman. “This tool is going to allow us to sequence and code both our training sessions and matches.

It’s going to allow us to collect data and share it with the trainers during and after matches. It’s also going to allow us to draft collective and individual player reports throughout the season.

That’s why I think it’s a very good initiative to promote video analysis here in Morocco.”

Morocco’s Director of Performance Analysis Harrison Kingston, has already seen the benefit of this new technology in live-match situations, having implemented it in tournament play.

“So the feedback from the players and coaches has been really positive and it's been quite a time in getting to the stage we're at now,” said Kingston. “But I think the proof was in the success we have had using it in tournaments.

The players saw this in terms of looking at the opponents, getting more detail, and also the coaches being able to plan better in terms of the opponents we were playing against.

And in the tournament we played last year, you could see the team really grasp the concepts we were trying to show them in terms of using the video for preparation, and each match they improved.”

The deal between Hudl and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation will provide Level 1 education courses to the analysts of the Federation and also to analysts of the Botola Pro.

Video Analyst for SCC Mohammédia Abdellatif Founoune also sees the new level of analysis as impactful for on-field performance.

“The viewing system is incredibly important in the progress of Moroccan football and especially professional football, because the viewing system helps the trainer and the player to improve,”said Founoune. “This is a very important thing when you see what we do on the field.

“Everyone tries to come up with a solution and everyone tries to give an idea, but giving players technical advice is not enough, the player has to be part of the solution.

Therefore, the idea of viewing is going to help Moroccan football make enormous strides.”

“We’re at the very beginning here and we want to give people the opportunity to show that there's another route, another pathway to support coaches and to support players". Harrison Kingston - Director of Performance Analysis, Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

Moving forward, Kingston describes how valuable this deal with Hudl will be for all of Moroccan football - with its effectiveness to become more-and-more evident over time.

“So the long term vision here for analysis is to first and foremost to professionalize this as an industry,” said Kingston. “We are at the very beginning here and we want to give people the opportunity to show that there's another route, another pathway to support coaches and to support players.

Ultimately, the goal is about trying to make Morocco as successful as we can in African tournaments, in world tournaments, in every age group, in every gender.”
