Introducing Live Football Data by Hudl

2 min Read

Live football data from the partner already powering professional football.

A game in progress asks different questions from a game already played. The data that serves it needs to work differently too.

Introducing Hudl Live Football Data: real-time, in-game data that provides clubs, content teams and data partners with a new supplier of live feeds of match events, fixtures, line-ups, delivered at the speed and scale they need.

Available now via an AI-ready API and integrated inside the Hudl Pro Suite, our Live Data features more than 2,400 events per match and includes a live version of Hudl Statsbomb's market-leading expected goals (xG) model and live shot freeze frames.

What makes it different?

Whenever a shot is taken, the debate starts. Most data feeds hand you the xG and stop there. We hand you the whole picture. Live shot freeze frames show where every visible player was standing at the moment of the strike: the defensive shape that let the chance open up, the keeper caught a step wrong, the striker no one picked up. Rendered live and alongside the xG while the match is still on and people are still asking, "How did he miss that?".

Who does it serve?

Hudl Live Football Data is built for three jobs:

  • Clubs get in-game analysis in the Hudl Pro Suite through Insight and Hudl Statsbomb's live visualisation platform, ready for half-time and full-time talking points rather than next-day review.
  • Content and fan-engagement teams get a real-time feed for live scoreboards, broadcast graphics and data-led editorial.
  • Data and modelling partners get clean, structured input with stable identifiers and API access, ready to feed their own systems.

Produced by Hudl. Collected for Live Action.

There are no second chances in live collection. Hudl Live Football Data is produced during the match by the same Hudl Statsbomb collection operation as our post-match data, on a quality process designed for real-time conditions and checked again after the final whistle.

It is a focused feed, built for use during the match, so it delivers a half-time talking point, a stat on screen or a model input at the pace of a live game.

The need for professional-grade live data has, until now, been catered for by a small number of entrenched suppliers. But being entrenched is not the same as being trusted. Hudl is stepping up to serve the market in a way that other suppliers are unable to, because we have the operation, the infrastructure, and the obsession with detail it takes to do this properly. This is an obvious next step in our evolution. Andrew Cox - Market Director, Hudl
