No More Switching: Instat Video Now Lives in Your Hudl Player

You may have felt it: Instat is where your film lives, but Hudl or Sportscode is where your workflow lives, and getting between the two takes more effort than it should. Building playlists. Clipping sequences. Running post-game reports. The tools exist, but they just haven't been in the same place.

We've seen the feedback. We've heard it directly from coaches at small college programs who put it plainly: Instat and Hudl feel like two separate platforms.

Starting September 2026, we're doing something about it.

Introducing Instat Unified Video Playlists.

When you click a video link in Instat Basketball, it now opens in the Hudl video player — the same one your team uses for everything else on Hudl. Clip it. Construct a playlist. Save it to your team's Hudl library. 

No switching or workarounds. Just your film, in the place your workflow already lives.

What's New

• Playlist and clipping experience that matches Hudl: Build playlists from Instat film using the same Hudl player and library your staff already knows.
• A team switcher inside Instat: Multi-team users can choose which Hudl team context a video or playlist saves to before they open it.
• More reliable post-game reports: Reports that subscribers have counted on are now more stable and consistent.
• Direct connection to Hudl Pro Suite: Your Instat data and Hudl tools including FastScout, FastDraw, FastRecruit, and Sportscode are more integrated, which unlocks more of what you're already paying for.
• Sportscode compatibility unchanged: If your workflow runs through Sportscode, it still does.

How We're Doing This

We're rolling this out in phases, deliberately, with real coach involvement at each stage. This isn't a feature drop and a fingers-crossed moment. Some capabilities will continue to expand over the coming weeks, and we'll keep you updated as they do. Our goal isn't speed. It's getting this right.

This release is available to select Instat Basketball leagues users beginning September 2026. Additional capabilities will roll out to select hockey users in the coming months, with more to follow.
