The Combine Kids

Inspired high school players to improve their combine scores to gain recruiting attention.

Who: Garrett Flanary, Morgan Ellison and prospective student athletes across the country

The Story: Each year thousands of high school football players burst onto the scene to garner much deserved attention from recruiters. For some, the attention is gained through performance on the field. For others, football camps are the best way to attract interest from schools.

Much like fellow Hudl 100 entrant Fotu Leiato, players like Garrett Flanary and Morgan Ellison have leveraged technology to market themselves.

Ellison, who had zero offers before posting a good enough score to sit atop the Hudl Combine leaderboard at one point this summer, now has offers from multiple Division I programs.

Flanary, a high school senior at Lincoln Christian School in Oklahoma, also took advantage of the same digital combine app to generate recruiting buzz for himself. However, outside of the obvious benefits to netting scholarship offers, Flanary also realizes the impact he has on other kids looking to achieve their dreams of playing at the next level.

“Being able to teach and inspire the younger generation and see them have fun is very important to me,” Flanary said when asked what motivates him each day.
