When you click a video link in Instat, it will now open in the Hudl video player instead of the Instat player. You'll clip, tag, and build playlists in the same environment used across all of Hudl — not a separate interface. Your playlists save directly to your team's Hudl library.
Yes. Your Instat data, stats, and video access stay exactly the same. The change is to the video player and playlist experience only — not to your underlying data or what content you can see.
Playlists you create going forward will save to your Hudl team library. For existing playlists, check with your Hudl rep — we'll make sure your work is accounted for before anything changes.
Most Instat users already have a Hudl account — if you've ever logged into Hudl.com, you're likely all set. You'll still be working inside Instat, but the new playlist experience now connects to Hudl.com, so you'll want to make sure your account is linked to your team. If you run into any trouble, reach out to your Hudl rep and they'll get you sorted quickly.
There's a team switcher built into Instat Basketball's navigation. Before you open a video, you choose which Hudl team it saves to. It's a quick step — and it gives you full control over where your work ends up.
You're right that a similar change was attempted and rolled back. This time, the approach is different: a phased rollout with coaches involved earlier and more frequently in testing. We're not moving everyone at once — we're going gradually, monitoring closely, and adjusting as we go.
The target launch is late August 2026, ahead of the season. Rollout is phased, so access may come in waves — your Hudl rep can confirm your program's timeline.
Yes. Post-game reports will continue without interruption. We'll share more details on timing and any format updates as we get closer to launch.
The core information you rely on will still be there. We're making some improvements to format and delivery along the way — and we'll give you a heads-up before anything changes for your program.
The core experience — watching video, clipping, and building playlists — is live. Some more specialized tools, like advanced telestration, are still in development. We're rolling those out based on direct feedback from coaches, and we'll keep you updated as they become available.
We'll have onboarding resources, in-product guidance, and a dedicated support page to walk you through what's new. Your Hudl rep and support team are also available if you have questions — just reach out.
Good news — the two work well together. With Hudl connecting your Instat and Sportscode workflows, you can upload and download video and playlists between them directly, without extra steps. Your CS team can show you exactly how it fits into your program's setup.
