Set Up Your Volleymetrics Camera

To access your camera, you may need to be on the same network as the camera. Some universities have separate networks for wired and wireless networks, or even for different ends of the gym. Your IT department can help you identify a way to access the camera view.

Before you get started, make sure the camera is plugged in and the SD card has been inserted. It’s ideal for the camera to already be mounted, but the following settings will save if you set it up elsewhere first.

  1. Type the camera’s IP address in a web browser and hit Enter. Add your password and confirm it, then click Create login.

Be sure to keep a record of the password so that you have it for other members of the coaching staff and for entry on the Volleymetrics portal.

  2. Type the username and password you just set up into their respective boxes. Select 60 Hz for power line frequency and the largest 16:9 option.

  3. Choose your time preferences and leave all IPv4 settings at their default. Click Next.

  4. If your camera is already mounted, use the autofocus and zoom functions on this page to adjust the view, then click Done.

If you haven’t mounted your camera, you can return to these options at a later time. See Focus and Zoom for a Box Camera or Focus and Zoom for a Dome Camera.

  5. You should now see the live view of the camera. Click the storage icon (bottom left) to view your SD card. If the status says "Okay", you’re good to go. If not, click the gear icon to visit the storage settings page.

  6. To complete your SD card setup, use the drop-down arrow next to the SD card to specify a time frame for storing recordings. We recommend seven days, but if you’re recording frequently, you might want to delete storage more often. Select Format to make sure your SD card is mounted and ready to store video.

The SD card can be formatted as either .ext4 or .vfat.

  7. Navigate to the Stream tab and set the compression to 30.

  8. Select the System tab then navigate to the security page. Change the settings to allow access through HTTP only.

  9. Finally, add your camera to the Volleymetrics portal!
