Create & Edit Broadcasts

Learn to create and edit broadcasts on our vCloud system and an overview of some of the additional features.

Create a Broadcast

  1. Log in to vcloud.blueframetech.com

Navigate to the Broadcast Grid page under Produce.

If you have multiple sites, the broadcast will be created under whichever site is selected at the top right-hand corner of vCloud.

  2. To create a new broadcast, choose Operations in the top right, and then Create Broadcast.

Fill in the section, give it a title, and time for broadcast. These three categories, in addition to the contact information that is auto-filled based on the account, are the only ones required by vCloud. For more information on each field:

    • Section - the category that a broadcast will fall under, typically the sport being played.
    • Title - Broadcast title or name of the event helps fans find the correct broadcast to view.
    • Broadcast Date & Time - date and time viewers can expect the live stream to start. Begin to stream up to an hour before the broadcast time.
  3. If there is no need to edit any of the advanced options for a broadcast, go to the bottom of the page and click Create.

Advanced Settings

Site sharing

When playing another school that also uses Production Truck, broadcasts can be shared so that it will show up on that school's page.

Backup mode

Backup mode allows our team to make a backup broadcast. It also allows a user to embed a video, through iframe embed. This is a good way to get a stream that might be streaming from, I.e. Youtube, to your channel.

Syndication

Syndication is a great way to push information to multiple places, along with streaming through BlueFrame. RTMP Push allows for this.

Alternate Source

Alternate Source allows streaming from a third-party software or hardware setup. Choose RTMP from the ALT Source drop-down and go to the Broadcast Details page to retrieve the RTMP URL and Stream Key.

Playlist

Playlists are a great way to group broadcasts together. Once a playlist is created, select it while creating a broadcast and have it show up in that specific playlist.

Status

Status allows fo upoading a broadcast. Change the status from scheduled to archived and then upload the MP4 file. Status also allows for custom messages for viewers when the stream is not available.

Settings

  • Plans
    • Plans gives the ability to change a stream from audio and video to just an audio-only broadcast.
    • Plans also allows for changes in the availability of the stream. Different availabilities to hide or show a broadcast in different ways are available.
  • General
    • General allows upload of a Poster image that displays a splash image, during downtime in a broadcast
    • General also allows a 5-second video to play when a broadcast is opened.
  • Access
    • Access allows the viewers to sign in before viewing content and the option to decide if a school would like to allow downloading of certain broadcasts. This is also where Pay-Per-View can be turned on and configured.

Once you have filled in all the information scroll to the bottom and hit Create.

FAQs

How do I start livestreaming to a broadcast?

Once your broadcast is created, you can livestream to it from your streaming software or hardware of your choice. That could be Production Truck or Remote Truck, a Hudl Focus camera, or a third-party streaming platform.

How do I change the broadcast settings?

Need to make a change? You can navigate back to the Broadcast Grid and select the pencil icon off to the right of a broadcast to update it.

How do I turn on pay-per-view for my broadcast(s)?

If you already have pay-per-view setup, it will apply automatically, as long as that broadcast fits into any filters, such as section or time period, specified on the access pass.

If you need to set up pay-per-view, you can use our Access Pass system.
