Equipment Recommendation - Four Camera Setup

Four camera setup equipment recommendations for streaming with Production Truck. This is our most affordable setup to capture video and audio with four cameras.

Computer

  • Apple 16" MacBook Pro
  • Cost - $2500-$2575

This MacBook has; 16GB of RAM, 512GB of Storage, a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor, and 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports available. Great for a 4 camera setup using Production Truck Pro software with replay, graphics and all the other built-in features that we include.

Capture Card

  • Decklink Duo 2 from B&H Photo and Video
  • Cost - $495

The capture card is what will take the cabling from your receivers and be able to convert it into the computer for use in our software. The type of capture card depends entirely on what type of cabling you are using, and thus what type of cameras you have. It is recommended to use SDI cabling and SDI capable cameras as SDI cabling is more rugged than HDMI.

Cameras

  • JVC GY-HM250 Streaming Camcorder
  • $1,700 per camera

This camera is a professional JVC Camcorder with HDMI and SDI capabilities and is capable of streaming at 1920x1080, with wireless streaming capabilities if those are desired.

Tripods

  • E-Image EK60 Fluid Drag Video Head and Tripod
  • $252 per tripod

SDI Cabling

  • 150’ SDI Cable
  • Cost - $150 per cable (more cable lengths available online)

Despite the advances in wireless and network solutions, SDI or fiber cabling is still the most efficient and consistent way to bring video from a camera into a production solution over a long distance.

Audio Mixing Board

  • Behringer Xenyx 1204USB Mixer
  • Cost - $170

This audio board includes 4 XLR inputs and mute buttons for each individual input. It is a USB mixer which means it can be plugged directly into the computer and selected as a device within Production Truck.

Headsets

  • Audio Technica BPHS 1
  • Cost - $200 per headset

The Audio Technica headsets are some of the best in the business. They are of fantastic quality and can handle the wear and tear of multiple productions.

Field Microphone and Cabling

  • Rode Field Microphone
  • Cost - $300

A field microphone will allow you to set up a directional microphone either on top of the cameras or somewhere else on the field or in the arena.

  • 25’ XLR Cabling
  • Cost - $19

XLR cabling, much like SDI cabling, costs more for longer runs of cable. Various cable lengths are available in the link above and in stores like Guitar Center.

  • Hosa Y Splitter for headphones
  • Cost - $6

If you want your commentators to be able to hear each other, this is essential. It allows their headphones to be plugged into the “Phones” input of the mixer at the same time.

  • Microphone Stand
  • Cost - $9A

An affordable way to prop up your field microphone.

USB to USB-C/thunderbolt 3 Adapter

  • Hootoo USB-C Adapter
  • Cost - $60

For all newer Mac models, this type of adapter is essential. It allows you to run in ethernet and up to 3 USB devices, all while charging the Mac as well.
