Use Filters to View Breakdown Data

Filters and sorting data makes viewing similar clips quick and easy! Check out all the options below for analyzing data quickly:

  1. Log in to Hudl.com, then hover over Video and select Library.

  2. Select the video on the right side that you want to look at breakdown data for.

Quick Filtering

  1. To filter a column, hover the mouse over a column header and click Analyze.

  2. Select the value(s) that need to be included in the filtered list.

  3. Click the X in the top-right corner to apply the filter.

Main Filtering

  1. Click Filters in the bar above the list of clips.

  2. At the top of the box, select New Filter.

  3. In the first section, select a data column to filter

  4. In the second section, the condition box, select a filter type to apply to your clips by choosing one from the drop-down box. The filter types in Hudl include:

    • In List: Generates a list of available filter values to choose from in the Value drop-down. This is the easiest filter type to use. Only the selected values will appear in the clips list. For instance, if you want to filter to all offensive plays in the ODK column, click the O option.
    • Equal to: The Value input becomes a text box. Only clips with a data value that equals the value you type will appear in the clips list. For instance, if you want to filter to all offensive plays in the ODK column, you would type O in the Value box.
    • Not equal to: The Value input becomes a text box. Only clips with a data value that is not equal to the value you type will appear in the clips list. For instance, if you want to filter out all offensive plays in the ODK column (leaving just defensive and kick plays), you would type O in the Value box.
    • Greater than/equal to: The Value input becomes a text box. Only clips with a data value that is greater than or equal to the value you type will appear in the clips list. For instance, if you want to filter to see all plays with a distance greater than or equal to 10 yards, you would type 10 in the Value box.
    • Less than/equal to: The Value input becomes a text box. Only clips with a data value that is less than or equal to the value you type will appear in the clips list. For instance, if you want to filter to see all plays with a distance less than or equal to 5 yards, you would type 5 in the Value box.
    • Between: The Value input becomes two text boxes. Only clips with a data value that is between the two values you type will appear in the clips list. For instance, if you want to filter to see all plays with a distance between 3 and 6 yards, you would type 3 and 6 in the Value boxes.

    Click each value you would like to include in your filter then click out of the box to apply the filter.

Sorting

  1. Click the column header to sort:

    • Click once to sort numerically or alphabetically.
    • Click twice to reverse the order.
    • Click a third time to sort by frequency.

  1. Hover over the column you wish to sort and click Analyze.

  2. Click the bar graph.

Editing Applied Filters

  1. This bar will show the current filters applied to the clips list. You can add, remove, or edit filters from this bar.

  2. To add another filter, click the Filter Arrow on the bottom of the black filter bar and follow steps the remaining steps below the main filtering section.

    To edit a specific filter, click on the column name, condition box, or data values in the filter’s row. A pop-up will reappear for you to choose new information for the filter.

  3. Click the X to remove all filters and return to the unfiltered clips list.

Saving and Loading Filters

You can save and load various filters to easily switch between them. This provides a quick way to alter the clips that are shown in the clips list.


If a filter is not already active, follow the steps outlined above to apply a filter. If a filter is already applied, you can skip this step.

  1. Click the Add to Quick Filters.

  2. Enter a name in the Save as box and click Save.

  3. If you want to load a previously saved filter, Filter Clips and select Save/Load Filter.

  4. Click Load Filter and select the desired filter.
