Add Effects

New Hudl is the future of Hudl, and we're just getting started. As we continue to release new features and improvements throughout the 2023 season, we'd appreciate your feedback along the way.

Effects created on New Hudl will be visible to everyone who has access to the video. Learn how to manage who has access to video.

To make effects private in New Hudl, create a playlist, add effects to it and then share it with individual members of your team.

Annotations added on New Hudl will not appear in the Classic library, or vice versa.

  1. Click the effects icon. A small action menu will pop up on the left side of the video player.

  2. You can now

    • Add text
    • Draw an arrow
    • Draw a circle
    • Draw freehand
    • Draw a straight line
    • Draw a blocking line

  3. To move text or a drawing, select the com­put­er mouse icon. Then, select and drag the text to place it on the video.

  4. To delete text or a draw­ing, select the com­put­er mouse icon. Then, select the text or draw­ing and either click the trash icon, or hit delete on your keyboard.

FAQs

Can I delete multiple effects at once?

If there are multiple effects at the same moment in a clip, you can hover over the effect on the timeline and delete all effects.

Will my effects from Classic transfer to New Hudl?

Effects do NOT transfer from Classic to New Hudl. It is important to make sure your entire team is using New Hudl.

Who can see these effects?

Anyone with access to that playlist will be able to view the effects you are creating. If you would like to make your effects private, create a separate playlist and unshare it with your team.
