Hudl Replay Hardware Recommendations
Computer
Refer to the recommendations on this page.
Tablet
Hudl Replay is compatible with the following iPad devices:
iPad Pro 2015 or newer
iPad 2018 or newer
iPad Air 2019 or newer
Software required:
iOS 11 or newer
Primary Capture Device
The AJA U-TAP devices are highly recommended for Hudl Sportscode live capture. Simple setup, no drivers, and higher resolutions make these devices ideal for any scenario. If you have a 2017 or above MacBook Pro, you’ll need to purchase a USB-C to USB adapter. Purchasing a second U-TAP as a backup is encouraged.
Pair either U-TAP device with a Decimator MD-HX Miniature HDMI/SDI Cross Converter to convert the signal to a desired resolution and utilize any HDMI/SDI connection.
Click here for instructions on setting up the U-TAP with Hudl Sportscode.
Wireless Connection
Please note, each setup for wireless is different. The following requirements include all the listed accessories along with a specific number of wireless access points:
- Ethernet to the Sideline - A wireless access point for each Replay viewing location (generally a single access point on the sideline, optionally one next to the capture station).
- Capture on the Sideline - One wireless access point for the sideline Replay viewing location next to the capture station.
- Wireless to the Sideline - Two wireless access points for both the capture station and sideline location (devices will communicate with each other).
Video cables (depending on set up):
- (2x) HDMI Cable
- (2x) SDI Cable (BNC Connector)
Wireless Access Points, Optional Power Adapter:

- Outdoor: Ruckus Unleashed T610, T710 or T750

Portable Battery Pack

Ethernet cables, device adapters, network switch:
- (One per connected device) Ethernet cables (Cat6 Recommended)
- (One per MacBook) USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adaptor
- (One per iPad to extend length of connection) Ethernet coupler
- EdgeSwitch 8 150W (One per Wireless Access Point, configured for DHCP) and/or Ruckus Zoneflex PoE Injector (Model No. 902-0162-US00)
Picking up at least two of each cable will not only help you to adapt to any situation, but ensure there’s always a backup on hand. Additionally, consider purchasing longer ethernet cables based on each venue.
