Convert WMV files for Use in Sportscode

This tutorial demonstrates .wmv conversion using VLC. Click here to download the macOS installer file for VLC.

  1. Launch VLC.

  2. Click FileConvert / Stream.

  3. Drag and drop the .wmv file onto the downward facing arrow or click Open media… and select the file.

  4. Select Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4) in the Choose Profile drop-down.

  5. Click Save as File.

  6. Click Browse… to select the save location and name of the converted file.

It’s best to save the file to your desktop and then move the file if necessary after it finishes converting.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Click Save again, and the playback window should appear.

Don’t click anything in the playback window or the conversion process could be interrupted.

  9. The file will be finished converting when the playhead reaches the end of the timeline. You’ll find the file in the save location you chose in step 5. This file now needs to be converted using Turbo.264 HD. Click here for directions.

The time to the right of the playhead should match the time under the Duration column when finished converting.

  10. Once you’ve finished converting the file with Turbo.264 HD, open Sportscode and click FileNewTimeline and select the converted file to create a new Sportscode package.
