Share a Live HTML Report

Haven’t cre­at­ed a Sportscode Report before? Contact your local sup­port team to get start­ed with script­ing an out­put window.

Sportscode Elite allows you to share a live report win­dow as an HTML page with or with­out video. You’ll be able to view this report on tablet or smart­phone via the mobile web brows­er pro­vid­ed they are con­nect­ed to the same WiFi network.

If you don’t have a WiFi net­work avail­able, you can cre­ate one using a Mac com­put­er by click­ing the WiFi icon and choos­ing Create Network. You can then con­nect your mobile devices to that net­work. If nec­es­sary, you can use an AirPort Extreme, Ubiquiti Nanostation, or oth­er router to extend the signal.

To share your live report as an HTML page, you’ll need to cre­ate a local web serv­er on your Mac using MAMP. Download and install the free ver­sion here.

Configure MAMP

  1. After you’ve down­loaded and installed MAMP, down­load this file. Move to the desk­top, then dou­ble click to unzip the Sportscode HTML Export folder.

  2. Open the MAMP soft­ware from your Applications fold­er in Finder.

  3. Within MAMP, select MAMPPreferences then select the Web Server tab.

  4. Click the fold­er icon to select the unzipped Sportscode HTML Report fold­er on the desktop.

  5. Click the Start/​Stop tab and check Start servers and Stop servers. Uncheck all oth­er box­es, then click OK.

  6. Quit MAMP.

Configure Sportscode

To share your live report with oth­er devices, the Sportscode code win­dow in Report mode must be kept open for the dura­tion of the game.

  1. Click Share in the tool­bar of your report window.

    If you don’t see the Share icon, fol­low these steps to get it into your toolbar.

  2. Choose one of the three HTML Export fold­ers inside the Sportscode HTML Reports fold­er. For this exam­ple, choose HTML Export 1.

    The pro­vid­ed zip file con­tains fold­ers for 3 exports. Additional fold­ers can be added as needed.

  3. Choose an Update inter­val for the report. Leave this at 10 sec­onds unless advised dif­fer­ent­ly by your local Hudl representative.

  4. If you’d like to export movie instances in your report, check the box and choose the export movie for­mat. Choose Source movie codec unless advised dif­fer­ent­ly by your local Hudl representative.

  5. Click Start Export.

    Playing back instance movies over WiFi won’t always be pos­si­ble – it’ll depend on your sig­nal strength and the amount of data to be transferred.

Start HTML Export

  1. Open MAMP.

  2. Check that the servers are start­ed. They should start upon open­ing MAMP — if not, click Start Servers.

  3. Click Open WebStart page on the MAMP inter­face, then select My Web Site from the brows­er window.

  4. Click HTML Export 1 to view the shared report.

  5. The reports can be viewed on oth­er devices on the net­work by going to either the IP address or the local address, both found in the upper right cor­ner of the brows­er window.

Stop HTML Export

  1. Open MAMP, select Stop Servers.

  2. Quit MAMP. Open Sportscode, and click Stop Export in the Share menu.

  3. If you are fin­ished export­ing and ready to start a new HTML export, delete all the files with­in the HTML Export 1 folder.

    To ensure the best expe­ri­ence with HTML Export, delete these files after each session.
