Hudl Recovery App (Windows)

These steps are for manually pulling video stuck on an iOS device.

  1. Download Hudl Recovery for Windows located here.

  2. Double-click on the app after it has downloaded.

  3. If you encounter this pop-up, select More Info.

  4. After selecting More Info, select Run Anyway and the app will open.

  5. Please confirm that you have tried the following troubleshooting steps before proceeding.

  6. Press the Install Files. This will install the necessary files.

    You will need to be an admin for the computer and have permissions to download. If you don't have these privileges, you will need to contact your school's IT department for access or use a different computer that has these permissions.

  7. After you have iTunes installed and running, plug the iOS device into the computer via a USB cord and open iTunes. Select the iPad Icon in iTunes.

  8. Go to File Sharing and find the Hudl app.

  9. Select the file dated with the upload (just like we would grab from iExplorer). Scroll down and click Save and save the dated file to your desktop.

  10. Open the Hudl Recovery for Windows app and select Choose the Folder.

  11. Press Choose the Folder on the app and select the date folder that you recovered from iTunes

  12. Windows Powershell will open and run all the necessary jobs.

  13. When Powershell has finished, press Upload to Hudl (sign in if need be).

  14. Upload the files from the folder(s) you collected from iTunes. Be sure to only select and upload the files with the media icon next to them. Ex: The bottom five files in the photo below.

  15. Done! Repeat steps 10-14 if you recovered additional folders from iTunes.

Once you have pulled all videos you need and can watch each full video on Hudl.com uninstall and reinstall the Hudl app on your iOS device. DO NOT uninstall the Hudl app until all videos are pulled and uploaded to your Hudl account. Deleting the app will erase all videos that have not been uploaded and cause them to be unretrievable.

Hudl Recovery App (Mac)

These steps are for manually pulling video stuck on an iOS device. Only use them when Hudl Support has instructed you to do so.

If you don't have administrative rights to this computer or can't download due to the school's network or firewall, you will need to try a different computer (personal computer), network, or talk with the school's IT department to get access to complete this tutorial.

MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 and older (Mojave)

  1. Connect your iOS device to your Mac and open iTunes.

    Select Trust this Computer on the iPad and the Mac.

  2. Select File Sharing and find the Hudl App.

  3. Select the date from the video you want to recover then click Save.

  4. Select Desktop and click Save.

  5. There will be a progress bar at the top center of iTunes.

  6. Download the Hudl Recovery for Mac application.

    If the application does not download when clicking the link to the right, click on the link and open it in a new tab.

    If you don't have admin rights to this computer or can't download due to the school's network or firewall, you will need to try a different computer (personal computer), network, or talk with the school's IT department to get access to complete this tutorial.

  7. Select open from the download.

  8. Drag the recovery application from the downloads folder to the desktop.

    The application will only work from the desktop.

  9. The first time you open the recovery tool you'll need to give it permission. Open System Preferences and select Security & Privacy and select Open Anyway.

  10. Select Open.

  11. Select Ok.

  12. Select Ok to start the application.

  13. Select the folder that you previously recovered from the iOS device.

  14. The files will begin processing

  15. Login to Hudl.com and click Upload.

  16. Click Select Files.

  17. Navigate to the dated folder on the desktop and select it. Group the Items by Kind.

  18. Highlight only the movie segment files.ts, that are not in a folder. Hit Open.

  19. Select Upload.

    Once you have pulled all videos you need and can watch each full video on Hudl.com uninstall and reinstall the Hudl app on your iOS device. macOS Catalina 10.15.6 and newer (Catalina or Big Sur)

  1. Connect your iOS device to your Mac and open Finder.

    Select Trust this Computer on the iPad and the Mac.

  2. Select Files from the tabs.

  3. Find Hudl from the list and select the dated folder from the list.

  4. Drag and drop the folder to the desktop.

  5. Download the Mac Recovery App and select open.

    If the application does not download when clicking the link to right, click on the link and open it in a new tab.
