Mac OS Camera & Microphone Privacy Setting Issue
With the Mac OS updates, a setting may have been enabled that may block your camera or microphone from being used with Production Truck. If receiving the “Failed to Start Audio Capture Session” error or a black screen for your camera input, then this may resolve that issue. The simple fix is to enable a privacy setting. Different macOS versions have these settings in different areas, please see below.
macOS Ventura
-
Navigate to your Mac’s System Settings located in the top right through the Apple logo.
In System Preferences, navigate to the Privacy & Security option, displayed as a hand symbol.
-
Under both Camera & Microphone, ensure Production Truck is enabled.
-
If either of them is not enabled, enable them to use any video or audio device with our software. After making this change, restart Production Truck.
macOS Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, & Monterey
-
Navigate to your Mac’s System Preferences located in the top right through the Apple logo.
In System Preferences, navigate to the Security & Privacy icon, displayed as a house symbol.
-
Within the Security & Privacy area, navigate to the Privacy tab at the top.
-
Click on the small lock button on the bottom right. You will be asked to enter the Admin’s username and password. This allows changes to be made to various security settings.
-
On the right, locate the Microphone setting. Next to the Production Truck name and logo, ensure that there is a blue check mark, or click the box to enable it. Do the same for Camera setting.
The camera and microphone are now enabled for use within Production Truck. Close and re-open Production Truck for full access.
