Hudl Focus Integration

Hudl Focus Integration (Windows)

The camera and the computer running Production Truck need to be on the same network.

Hudl Focus app

Hudl Focus Technical Requirements can be found here. This will provide details for the ideal network setup for the Focus so it operates without issue.

  1. In the Focus App, ensure that the camera says Recording in the top left-hand corner. Select the Settings gear icon in the top right-hand corner.

  2. In the App's settings, navigate to Connect to your Broadcast Software underneath Broadcast. The RTMP information to plug into Production Truck will be provided.

  3. If there are different views for different events/sports, these will be listed separately and have their own unique RTMP addresses.

Production Truck

  1. Inside Production Truck, open up Production Truck's Preferences by selecting the gear icon in the center.

  2. Navigate to Devices. Select the plus icon to add a device.

  3. Input the information from your Hudl Focus Camera into the fields listed.

    • Device Type: if you know you are using Tactical or Panoramic, you can select the option that is applicable.
    • Protocol: select RTMP.
    • Click Add
    • Device Type Select Misc
    • URI enter the entire URI for the camera
    • Protocol select Other
    • Click Add.

Check the box for Create Audio Device to bring in audio.

  4. Navigate to Audio/Video and select the Hudl Focus camera as the source option for one of your cameras.

Issues with Connecting

If on the Hudl Focus app, you receive errors, then Production Truck will not be able to connect. If you are receiving an error in your Hudl Focus app, please reach out to our Support Team.

Quick Checks for connection issues:

  • Make sure the computer running Production Truck and the Hudl Focus camera are on the same network
  • If live streaming a volleyball game, make sure the RTMP is panoramic
  • If livestreaming a basketball, football, or soccer game make sure the RTMP is tactical.
  • Make sure the RTMP information is being put in the URI field with the protocol being <From URI>

If you continue to have issues connecting the camera to Production Truck, we would recommend downloading one of the other software and attempting to pull the camera in. This will assist in determining if it is an issue with the connection itself.

FAQs

When I try to connect my Hudl Focus, I receive an error message, like connection timeout.

This means that the Hudl Focus camera and Production Truck are unable to communicate. Ensure that they are on the same internet network and that the technical requirements for both Production Truck and the Hudl Focus are met.

We would also recommend having an I.T. professional go through the network troubleshooting steps, and specifically, ping the camera from the computer running Production Truck. If you can ping your camera, it’s online, on the network, and attempting to communicate—but something’s preventing it from communicating. Look for traffic coming from it. Can you see anything being blocked?

When I'm connected to the Hudl Focus feed, I just receive an orange screen.

Sounds like you need to start a Hudl Focus recording! You will need to start a game recording under the sport you are trying to livestream. This is vital, as the camera only sends out a feed with that camera angle for that sport.

I want this to be automated and do not want to have to use Production Truck, is that possible?

Yes! You can stream directly from your Hudl Focus. Please note that this is just the Hudl Focus feed and you will not be able to add additional production elements like; replays, video clips, other cameras, etc.
