Equipment Recommendation - One Camera Setup

Equipment recommendations for a one-camera setup for streaming with Production Truck. This is our most affordable setup to capture video and audio with one camera.

MacBook

  • Apple MacBook (2019+)
  • COST: ~$1,300

Any MacBook with 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage space, and 2 thunderbolt 3 ports available. Great for a 1-2 camera setup utilizing our Production Truck software. If 3-4 cameras are desired, a more intensive MacBook would be recommended, typically a MacBook Pro with the same, or more, RAM and a i7 or i9 processor.

Capture Device - Recorder 3G

  • Blackmagic Recorder 3G
  • COST: $145

The Recorder 3G will take the HDMI or SDI feed from a camera and convert it for use within Production Truck software. These require a Thunderbolt 3 connection.

Thunderbolt Cable

  • Thunderbolt Cable
  • Cost - $38 or $39

This Thunderbolt is needed in order to power the Blackmagic Recorder 3G and will connect the computer and the device.

HDMI Cable

  • 6’ Micro HDMI Cable
  • Cost - $6.45 or $7

These are micro HDMI cables specifically for the cameras suggested below. If a greater distance than six feet away from the computer is, a longer cable is necessary.

Camera

  • Sony - HDRCX405 HD Video Recording Handycam Camcorder
  • Cost - $198

These are affordable, consumer HD cameras. Amazon does have some options available if you search Sony Handycam CX405 for full camera kits, including cabling and Tripods.

USB-C Hub Device

  • HooToo USB C Hub, USB C Adapter with Ethernet Port
  • Cost - $40

This device allows the addition of multiple USB ports and a hard-lined ethernet port

Tripod

  • Magnus Tripod VT-4000
  • Cost - $159.95

Tripod for mounting and stabilization of camera.

USB Audio Mixer

  • XENYX Q802 USB 8-Input Mixer
  • Cost - $120

Allows for multiple audio channels to be brought in and controlled to a computer via USB. Audio levels and devices are controlled via the mixer.

Broadcast Headset

  • Audio Technica BPHS1
  • Cost - $200

This headset is industry standard and allows for the capture of commentator audio. Connects to the USB Audio Mixer via XLR cable.

Field Microphone

  • Audio-Technica Short Condenser Shotgun Mic
  • Cost - $199

Field Microphone that captures natural game audio. This pack includes the XLR cables and mount needed. Connects to the USB Audio Mixer via XLR cable.

The total cost can vary depending on the length of cables purchased and does not include tax.
