Downloading and Updating Capture Card Drivers

Many capture card devices require their own driver software to be downloaded in order to function properly. Download the appropriate drivers for the brand of your device.

Before starting be sure to unplug the capture device

Downloading Drivers from Production Truck (Mac)

  1. Drivers can be directly downloaded from within Production Truck. With Production Truck open, navigate to the top navigation bar and select Help>Download Links. Select the appropriate drivers for your capture card brand.

    Blackmagic Drivers: ALL Blackmagic products require their drivers to be downloaded

    Magewell Drivers: Most single-camera Magewell devices do not require drivers, and multi-camera Magewell devices do require drivers.

    The appropriate drivers will download to your computer.

Downloading Drivers from Appropriate Website (Windows)

  1. Blackmagic

    Go to www.BlackMagicDesign.com. Find the Support Page link at the top of the page.

  2. Scroll down to Latest Downloads on the left-hand side. You do not need to select your device. Find the newest version of Desktop Video. Choose the Operating System that your computer uses (Windows or Mac).

  3. A registration window will open. Register your device, OR just click Download Only in the bottom left corner of the window. This will begin the download.

  2. Select Driver from the various tabs and then select your operating system to the right, in this case, it would likely be Windows. Select Download.

Installing Blackmagic Drivers

  1. Once the download is complete open it from your downloads folder to unzip the folder. This will open a file called "Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_xx.x.dmg", with the appropriate version number. Double click this file.

    On a Mac, If you receive an error message, that it Cannot be Opened, navigate to your Mac System Preferences>Security & Privacy, under the General tab select Open Anyway at the bottom.

    If you are on macOS Ventura, under your Mac's System Preferences, select Security & Privacy on the right, then scroll toward the bottom until you see the Security header on the right. Then enable the App Store and Identified Developers option under Allow Applications downloaded from.

  2. A window will open up that will include the installer. It is a green icon titled "Install Desktop Video xx.x", double click this. The installation window appears. Follow the prompts to navigate through the standard install process. The password of the computer administrator will be needed.

    It is recommended to run the uninstaller if you already have a version of Blackmagic Desktop Video installed on your computer.

  3. Restart your computer. While the computer is restarting, plug your device in.

    After the computer restarts and you've plugged your device(s) back in you may be prompted to perform a firmware update for your device. Always be sure to do this to ensure up-to-date drivers.

Installing Magewell Drivers

  1. Once the download is complete open it from your downloads folder to unzip the folder. This will open a file called "ProCaptureDriverfor_xxxx", with the appropriate version number. Double click this file.

    On a Mac, If you receive an error message, that it Cannot be Opened, navigate to your Mac System Preferences>Security & Privacy, under the General tab select Open Anyway at the bottom.

  2. A window will open up that will include the installer. Follow the prompts to navigate through the standard install process. The password for the computer administrator is needed.

  3. Restart your computer. While the computer is restarting, plug your device in.

    After the computer restarts and you've plugged your device(s) back in you may be prompted to perform a firmware update for your device. Always be sure to do this to ensure up-to-date drivers.
