Using a GoPro with Production Truck or vCloud Streaming

A GoPro can be brought into Production Truck like any other camera or can be streamed directly to vCloud with a GoPro Subscription.

Please ensure that the GoPro device has the correct output port as to use a GoPro with Production Truck must be a wired connection. The ability for the GoPro to send a feed wirelessly is only available within the GoPro app.

By default, you can only stream to the GoPro app. In order to stream to vCloud via RTMP you must purchase a GoPro subscription service.

Using GoPro with Production Truck

If your GoPro model does not include an HDMI port on your GoPro, you will need to purchase a GoPro Media Mod.

  1. Since the ability for wireless transmission of a video signal is only to the GoPro app, a wired connection is required to bring in the GoPro to Production Truck. It would also need a capture card like any other video source.

Connect the GoPro via HDMI to a capture card and then connect that to the computer, likely via either Thunderbolt or USB, depending on the capture card.

Select the Capture Card within the Audio/Video area of Production Truck.

  2. The GoPro camera feed appears within Production Truck.

Streaming to vCloud with a GoPro via RTMP

This requires a GoPro Subscription. In order to enable RTMP on the broadcast, please see the following: Streaming to vCloud via RTMP.

Unlike some other streaming applications that ask for a separate RTMP URL and Stream Name/Key, GoPro wants the Full URI. Copy this from your broadcast on vCloud.

  1. Go to the GoPro application and open it. With the camera connected, scroll to the Set Up Live option. From the available options, select RTMP

  2. Select the Set Up Stream option.

Ensure that you are connected to a valid network at the top, then under the Enter Your RTMP URL option, paste the RTMP URI from the broadcast in vCloud.

Select a valid resolution and you are given the option of saving a copy locally to the GoPro. Click Set Up Live Stream.

  3. Tap Go LIVE or press the Shutter button to start streaming.

The connection speed can be monitored via the Stream Health option. Click Stop Recording when the live stream is over.
