Split Large Files Before Uploading (Windows)

The web uploader can upload 42GB of video at a single time. If you need to upload a video larger than 42GB, you'll need to split that video on your computer before uploading it to Hudl.com.

  1. Find the video file on your computer and right-click it.

  2. Navigate to Open With > Photos.

  3. Click Edit & Create.

  4. Click Trim.

  5. Adjust the length of the video by dragging the circle icon at the end of the timeline.

  6. Drag the circle to the halfway point.

    Take note of where in the video you're trimming for reference.

  7. Click Save a Copy.

  8. Choose where you’d like to save the file on your computer and click Save.

    Name it "First Half" so you know which part of the video goes first when it's time to upload.

  9. Browse for the original file and right-click it.

  10. Navigate to Open With > Photos.

  11. Click Edit & Create.

  12. Click Trim.

  13. Adjust the length of the video by dragging the circle icon at the beginning of the timeline.

  14. Drag the circle to the halfway point.

    Reference the time from the note you took earlier so you know where to trim it.

  15. Click Save a Copy.

  16. Choose where you’d like to save the file on your computer and click Save.

    Name it "Second Half" so you know it goes after the first half video when it's time to upload.

The web uploader can upload 42GB of video at a single time. If you need to upload a video larger than 42GB, you'll need to split that video on your computer before uploading it to Hudl.com.

  1. Click here to download the current version of Quicktime.

  2. Navigate to File > Open File...

  3. Browse for the file and click Open.

  4. Navigate to Edit > Trim.

  5. Adjust the length of the video by dragging the right end of the yellow bar.

  6. Click Trim.

    Drag the bar to the halfway point. Take note of the time in the video for reference.

  7. Navigate to File > Save.

  8. Choose where you’d like to save the file on your computer and click Save.

    Name it "First Half" so you know which part of the video goes first when it's time to upload.

  9. Navigate to File > Open File.

  10. Browse for the original file and click Open.

  11. From the Edit menu, click Trim.

  12. Adjust the length of the video by dragging the left end of the yellow bar.

  13. After you drag the left end of the yellow bar to the halfway point, click Trim.

    Reference the time from the note you took earlier so you know when to trim it.

  14. From the File menu, click Save.

  15. Choose where you’d like to save the file on your computer and click Save.

    Name it "Second Half" so you know it goes after the first half when it's time to upload.
