FAQs

How do you track activity?

We check to verify video is playing every 30 seconds.

How do you track the last time online?

From the last time the athlete logged in and spent time on Hudl.

My athlete claims they watched film for 25 minutes. The tracking says 24 minutes. Why?

We round the activity down. So that athlete probably watched about 24 minutes and 30 seconds of video.

What about looping clips? Does it still count?

If the video is set to loop all clips, we continue to track activity until the video stops playing. If a video is set to loop a single clip, it doesn’t have a time limit for tracking. If one clip is looped for 20 minutes, that athlete would be credited 20 minutes of activity.

Some of my team members are on multiple teams. Can I tell which team their activity is coming from?

No, activity is not specific to a certain team. Regardless of which team they're on while watching video, tracking for their usage will show on your Manage Team page.

Does it count if they're watching highlights?

Nope, activity is only tracked by viewing video added by coaches, e.g. game footage, practice or opponent scout.

What if an athlete has Hudl video playing in one tab and is scrolling through his Twitter feed in another tab?

We have no way to know if this is happening. A good gut-check for your team would be to add a note or drawing periodically throughout the video. These will pause playback, which will put a halt on their activity tracking.

When does the activity clock reset?

It never really does—it's time spent on Hudl in the past 7 days. So if you check on a Tuesday, it'll show you time since last Tuesday. If you check on Thursday, you'll see time since last Thursday.

What if an athlete has Hudl video playing in the Hudl app and tries to open his Twitter app at the same time?

Hudl's app will pause video as soon as it's no longer the active app on the device. Since most athletes have multiple devices at their disposal, it's still a good gut-check for your team to add a note or drawing periodically throughout the video. These will also pause playback, which will put a halt on their activity tracking.
