Create Premium Highlights

Create Premium Highlights (Computer)

To create your premium highlight, you’ll first need to tag highlights from your team’s games.

  1. Log in to Hudl.com, hover over your name, and click Your Highlights.

  2. Click Create Highlight.

  3. Click Give Your Reel a Title to name your highlight.

    Keep the title under the 25 character limit.

  4. Enter a title for the highlight and click Done.

  5. Next, you can add:

Add Video

  1. Click the + icon.

  2. Select Videos.

  3. Filter the highlights by team and season.

    If you don’t see a particular schedule entry listed here, follow this tutorial to create clips to send to highlights.

  4. Select the highlights you want to add and click Add Clip to Your Reel.

    Choose Select All to quickly add all the highlights shown.

  5. To delete a clip, hover over the thumbnail and click the trash can icon.

  6. To edit a clip, hover over the thumbnail and click the pencil icon.

  7. To trim a clip, select the scissor icon. Add a spot shadow by clicking the circle icon. Add text by clicking the Aa icon. Preview the highlight by clicking the play icon. Click and drag clips to re-order them on the timeline.

Finished with your highlight? Be sure to save and publish it.

Add Music

  1. Click the + icon.

  2. Select Music.

  3. Use the drop-down to filter music by genre.

  4. Select the song(s) you’d like to include and click Add to Reel.

  5. To delete a clip of music, hover over the music bar and click the trash can icon.

    All done? Be sure to save and publish it.

Add Title Slides

  1. Click the + icon.

  2. Select Slides.

  3. Select the type of slide you’d like to add.

  4. Add your text or photos, then click Add Slide to Your Reel.

    Got a solid highlight? Be sure to save and publish it.

Add Photos

  1. Click the + icon.

  2. Select Photos.

  3. Click Choose a Photo, or drag and drop your image.

  4. Choose the picture and click Open.

Publish Your Highlight

  1. Click Publish to save your highlight.

  2. Post your highlight straight to Facebook or Twitter, and get the URL to start sharing.

FAQs

I don’t see the star icon next to any of my clips. Where is it? (Hudl Classic only)

If your video was uploaded as practice or scout film, the option to ‘star’ or ‘highlight’ clips will not be available on the playlist. A coach will need to download the playlist, and then re-upload it as game film in order to have the ability to create highlights from it.

When I go to create a highlight, the screen gets stuck loading. What do I do?

Can I add my own music to my highlight?

Due to copyright laws, you cannot use or upload your own music in Hudl highlights. However, Hudl has a variety of mixes that you can choose from.

How do I download my highlights?

In order to obtain your highlight in mp4 format, you will need to order the highlight. Remember that there are also a few options for sharing your highlights online too!

Create Premium Highlights (iOS)

  1. Log in to the Hudl app and tap Highlights.

  2. Tap + Create Your New Highlight Reel.

  3. Tap the pencil icon to name your highlight reel.

  4. Give your highlight a title, tap Done on your keyboard and select Update Reel.

  5. Next, you can add:

Add Video

  1. Tap the + icon.

  2. Select Video.

  3. Select your clip(s) and tap Add Clip.

  4. To delete a clip, selecting the thumbnail then tap the trash can icon.

  5. To edit a highlight, select the thumbnail and tap the pencil icon.

    Preview the highlight by tapping the play icon. Drag clips to re-order them on the timeline and tap Done to save any changes.

  6. To trim a clip, select the scissor icon.

    Add a spot shadow by tapping the circle icon.

    Add a section of slo-mo by selecting the clock icon.

    Add text to the clip by selecting the Aa icon.

    Finished with your highlight? Be sure to save and publish it.

Add Music

  1. Tap the + icon.

  2. Select Music.

  3. Select the song(s) you’d like to include and tap Add to Reel.

  4. Tap All Genres to filter music by genre.

  5. To delete a clip of music, select the music bar and tap the trash can icon that appears.

    All done? Be sure to save and publish it.

Add Title Slides

  1. Tap the + icon.

  2. Select Slide.

  3. Select the type of slide you’d like to add, then edit the slide and tap Add to Reel.

    All done? Be sure to save and publish it.

Add Photos

  1. Tap the + icon.

  2. Select Photo.

  3. Tap the thumbnail to open your camera roll. Choose the picture you’d like to add.

  4. Confirm that's the correct picture and tap Add to Reel.

Publish Your Highlight

  1. When finished editing your highlight, tap Save & Publish.

  3. Tap the pencil icon to name your highlight reel.

  4. Give your highlight a title, tap Done on your keyboard.

  5. Next, you can add:

  2. Select Video from Hudl.

  3. Select your clip(s) and tap Add Clip.

  4. To delete a clip, selecting the thumbnail then tap the trash can icon.

  5. To edit a highlight, select the thumbnail and tap the pencil icon.

  6. To trim a clip, select the scissor icon.

    Add a spot shadow by tapping the circle icon.
