Set Up an IP Capture

This tutorial is specific to our newest product, Hudl Sportscode. If you’re on Sportscode v11, use these resources instead or upgrade today.

In addi­tion, the IP stream must use RTP, RTMP, or RTSP, not HTTP, and needs to be on a eth­er­net con­nec­tion. VOD (stream­ing video on demand) isn’t supported.

Single-angle Capture

  1. Configure your IP cam­era and deter­mine the stream address. Contact your IT admin­is­tra­tor for more details or use this site to help deter­mine your address. Select your cam­era brand from the list, then find the cam­era mod­el on the fol­low­ing page.

  2. Launch Hudl Sportscode, then click Capture and select Open Capture Window.

  3. Click the Gear icon.

  4. Click the Feeds tab.

    Feeds only need to be cre­at­ed once. For future cap­tures with the same feed, skip to step 9.

  5. Click the + icon.

  6. Double-click New Feed and rename the stream as desired. Press return on your key­board to save.

  7. Be sure your feed is select­ed, then type your stream address next to Feed Address.

  8. If using a secure feed, enter your infor­ma­tion for Username and Password.

  9. Click on the Sources tab.

  10. Select IP Capture and the feed. A green check will appear when it is connected. 

  11. Make sure that the Capture Preset is set to From Source.

  12. Go back to the cap­ture win­dow and press the red Record but­ton.

Multi-Angle IP Capture

  1. Configure your IP cam­era and deter­mine the stream address. Contact your IT admin­is­tra­tor for more details or use this site to help deter­mine your address. Select your cam­era brand from the list, then find the cam­era mod­el on the fol­low­ing page.

  2. Launch Hudl Sportscode, then click Capture and select Open Capture Window.

  3. Click the Gear icon.

  4. Click the Feeds tab.

  5. Click the icon.

  6. Double-click New Feed and rename the stream as desired. Press return on your key­board to save.

  7. Be sure your feed is select­ed, then type your stream address next to Feed Address.

  8. If using a secure feed, enter your infor­ma­tion for Username and Password.

    Repeat steps 5 – 8 for each feed.

  9. Click on the Sources tab and select the angles you want to cap­ture. A green check­mark will sig­ni­fy that the angle is available.

    The main cap­ture win­dow will dis­play whichev­er angle is checked first. Once the cap­ture begins all angles will be view­able in the timeline.

  10. Go back to the cap­ture win­dow and press the red Record but­ton.

    Multi-angle cap­ture is only avail­able for spe­cif­ic licens­es. If you receive an error upon start­ing the cap­ture, con­tact our team to get this turned on.
