Alternate Installation Solutions

If your gym doesn't have a wall that meets our height and distance requirements, you might need to get creative with your installation. Check out these alternate mounting solutions using a beam or rafter.

The solutions below were created by Hudl customers. We only fully support our standard installation process.

Mount from a Beam

You can secure the flat side of the Hudl Focus mount to either side of an I-beam using c-clamps. Check out the picture below to see how. Then use these steps to install your camera.

You could use also c-clamps to secure the back of the Focus mount to struts or wood paneling that's attached to an I-beam. The picture below will show you how.

Another option is to use a ceiling mount extension pole that's hanging from an I-beam or rafter. You'd attach the back of the Focus mount to the flat end of the pole.

If you have a beam that runs parallel to your court, use a c-clamp to mount your camera, then follow these steps to install it. Check out the picture below to see the final product.

Install Your Mount on a Rafter

First use a sturdy piece of wood and c-clamps to create a flat surface across two rafters—that's where you'll install your mount. Then attach the camera by following these steps.

If you don't have a rafter or beam within our distance requirements, you can build a custom strut extension. Check out the picture below for more details.
