Who: Moritz Boehringer, wide receiver for the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings

The Story: Moritz made history by being selected in the 2016 NFL Draft as the first player drafted directly out of Europe without playing a down of college football.

Inspired by watching highlight clips of NFL star Adrian Peterson, Boehringer switched from playing soccer, a game he had played for nearly a decade, to American football. He would eventually hone his craft enough to excel in the German Football League. After winning the league’s Rookie of the Year Award in 2015, Boehringer decided it was time to take his talents to the world’s premier football league – the NFL.

Through highlight clips of his best plays and his performance at various camps, Boehringer garnered interest from multiple NFL teams. He even caught the eye of his favorite team, the Minnesota Vikings, and instilled enough confidence that the Vikings decided to select Boehringer in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

“My ultimate goal is to be the Dirk Nowitzki of the NFL.” Moritz Boehringer
