Rarely is Benjamin Franklin’s advice applicable in the sporting world, but one of his most famous quotes still rings true hundreds of years later - “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

Update team and athlete profiles to showcase your team.
Do your fans a favor by updating the profile picture, cover photo, team bio and colors.

Test your athletes in drills (40-yard dash, vertical jump, etc.) on the Hudl Combine app and have them share their results.
Communicating with your entire team or individual players has never been easier. You can easily update workout schedules and send tips to your players and coaches without fear of them missing the message.

Chat with your coaches to make sure the messages you send are consistent and relevant.
Lay the ground rules with your athletes for what types of messages to send.
Have every team member download the Hudl app.
Encourage your team to use the Hudl app to review video you’ve uploaded from anywhere to make sure they’re learning from mistakes and improving their performance.
Prepare for review sessions.
Gather the tools and equipment you’ll need for team review sessions. This might include your Bluetooth Hudl remote, cords and adapters for your projector/monitor or preparing to use a software program like Airplay or Apple TV.
Be Ready for Game Day
Make sure the cameras are ready to roll.
- Charge everything so you don’t have battery issues.
- Wipe SD cards or clear space to avoid storage problems.
- If you’re recording with the Hudl app, double-check that you have the most updated app version. Do this before your season starts and before every game.
Assign a reliable tagger to live tag.
If you’re planning on tagging stats live at the game, find a dedicated tagger. Think outside the box for potential taggers like student managers, assistant coaches, injured players or even a knowledgeable parent or fan.
Get the tagger to a practice so they’re comfortable with Hudl’s tagging workflow. Assign two people to the task so there’s a spotter and backup.
Plan your process for uploading.
If you’re recording with a camera and uploading with Hudl Mercury, do a test upload to make sure there aren’t any issues.
Or record from the Hudl or Sideline app and upload with a Wi-Fi network. Decide where you’ll upload your games, whether it’s at the school or at home, and be sure there are no firewalls to block you. Give it a test run to get comfortable with the process.
Make game-changing decisions on the fly with instant replay on the sideline. Find the package that works for your team and your setup.
Set up your kit(s) for a trial run before your first game.
Ensure your test run is at your stadium in a game-like situation with loudspeaker announcements, headset frequencies and movement on the field. Learning the ins and outs before you’re in a high-pressure game situation will help your entire team.
Double-check coach responsibilities with Hudl Sideline to avoid any last-minute scrambles.
Get your accessories ready.
Have extra HDMI cables on hand in case
Be ready with any tarps or weatherproofing gear before inclement weather hits.
Get your iPads and iPhones ready.
Download the Hudl Sideline app and make sure everything on the devices are up-to-date.
Have available storage to make sure your devices are able to record and send clips.
Plan which devices you will use on game day. The older the device, the less compatible it is with Sideline.
Check that your power is ready to go before your first game. A lot of schools don’t run power to press box outlets automatically.
Charge your external batter if you’re using an end zone kit. Make a plan for charging that battery before every game.
