PGC Fast Break: Clip the Hip

This drill forces athletes to employ multiple skills with each rep.

No practice schedule allows coaches to cover everything they’d like to, so efficiency is key. This week’s drill from PGC basketball forces athletes to employ multiple skills with each rep, allowing you to maximize practice time and improve on offense.

Clip the hip

This two-person drill simulates on-ball pressure from the defensive player while the offense practices attacking contact and finishing with a twist pass. In each rep, the offensive player will work on three key skills:

  • Footwork
  • Passing
  • Playing to and through traffic

Running this drill will help your athletes drive through contact, catch the ball shot-ready, and make smart passes. Not only will they be harder to guard, but those skills will also elevate the teammates around them.

Don’t miss the other drills in this series, including Rodman ReboundingCommunication Offense1-on-1 Restrictions3-on-3 Box the HelpOne Extra Pass and Assignment Closeout.
