Course 2:   It All Starts with Video

As of March 13, 2023, Hudl Academy will be undergoing changes. While this site is under construction, please connect with our tutorials, classes, or YouTube channel for up-to-date information on all Hudl products and workflows.

Lesson 1:   Preseason Prep

  1. Find your filmer. Have a student manager, injured player or parent record so coaches can stick to coaching.

  2. Choose your favorite device. An iPad or iPhone gets video online faster because it can upload live with a WiFi connection. But a camera gives you better zoom and quality options. It’s all about finding what makes sense for your team.

  3. Style your setup. Bleachers too far away (or non-existent)? Filmer can’t keep the camera steady? No worries. Check out our recommendations for the best lenses, cases and tripods to help you get the best angle.

  4. Be smart when you order jerseys. Black-on-black jerseys might look sweet, but it’s nearly impossible to see the numbers on video. Whether you’re tagging the match yourself or sending to Hudl Assist, jerseys with contrasting colors will make everyone’s lives easier.

  5. Invest in an elevated camera. These systems can help you get that perfect vantage point. Not in the budget? A tall, sturdy tripod can also do the trick.

  1. Take it to the next level

  2. Test it all at practice. This is the ideal way to try out your hardware and train the person behind the camera.
