Video Introduction Includes Video

The purpose of this tutorial is to demonstrate how to exchange video in Hudl and how it can be used to make video exchange a quick and painless process.

With a few clicks, you can replace the hassle of creating copies for exchange, the cost of sending video through the mail, or the wasted time of driving to deliver the video.

Video exchange in Hudl allows you to quickly and easily send playlists to other Hudl teams, as well as between your own teams, such as your varsity and junior varsity teams. With Hudl’s escrow system, you and your opponent can come to a mutual agreement about shared video, ensuring both teams are satisfied before the exchange is made.

Note: Exchanged video will count against your private storage, even if it is marked as game footage.

Managing the Exchange

  1. Move the mouse over the Manage button on the Hudl main menu. Click on your team on the resulting sub-menu. This will take you to the Manage page for your team. On this page, you can manage all of the information related to your team.
  2. Click the Exchanges button to begin a new exchange or view exchange history. The Exchanges button will only be available for team administrators.
  3. On the Exchanges page your entire exchange history is listed.
  4. Click the Needs Attention tab to view pending exchanges. On this page you will see your team name, the team with whom you’re exchanging film, and an information box in the middle. Click on this box to open and close the information.

Waiting on: Appears when your team is “waiting on” the other team to act. When you see this, it means Hudl has notified the other team of an update to the exchange. Click the box for more information.

Your move: Appears when it’s your turn to act on an exchange: either to accept, deny, or finalize the exchange and add video to your library. Click the box for more information.

Cancelled: If either team cancels the exchange, the Cancelled box will appear. Click the box to see an explanation and for more information.

  5. Click the All Exchanges tab to view your entire exchange history. Here you can see exchanges that are pending along with those that are complete.

Complete: Once the exchange is complete, and the video has been added to your library the box will say complete. Click the box to view any information regarding this exchange.

Starting a New Exchange

  1. From the exchange page, click the New Exchange button.
  2. From the resulting menu personalize the following data to share with your opponent:

Team: Begin typing the team name you would like to share with. The field will show you a list of teams as you type. Pick one.

Data: Select the data you would like to share with your opponent.

Angles: Select the angles you wish to share with your opponent.

Is there something else you want in return: If you want something in return in the exchange, select Yes, there is, and specify what you want the text box below. If there is not, select, No, just send my stuff now. Hudl will not enforce a two-way exchange if you choose No.
  3. Click Next to confirm the exchange. Your opponents will only be able to preview up to 5 of your clips until they’ve exchanged something in return. You’ll have a chance to approve what the send you as well.

Receiving Video in Hudl through an Exchange

  1. When another team requests an exchange with you, you’ll receive an email. The email will provide a link to your Exchanges page.

You can also simply follow the directions at the beginning of the Managing the Exchange Page portion of this tutorial to view any pending exchanges.
  2. From the Exchanges page, find any exchanges that say Your Move under the Needs Attention tab. These are the exchanges you must respond to.
  3. To add video to your library click the information box of a finalized exchange, and click the Add Video to Your Library button. From there, you can choose where you want your video to be placed in your library.

Now that you have new film in your library, you can create your own video notes and share it to the rest of your team.
