For many of you, the football season is underway. We want you to know we’re still working incredibly hard to help you win.
As always, our product team has been challenging itself to improve Hudl. Here are the highlights:
- Import slides directly from any PowerPoint file.
- Add multiple songs to any premium highlight.
- Record voice notes on video from any browser.
- Quicker team search for exchange.
- Exchange video with your whole league instantly.
PowerPoint Import
In our Presentation Editor, coaches can now import slides from any PowerPoint file they have on their computer. Just click Insert > PowerPoint Slides from the menu and give it a moment to upload and process the slides.
The images that are inserted won’t be editable in Hudl. But you can easily add new slides or overlay additional text, images, or video on any of the slides.
Multiple Songs in Premium Highlights
No matter how amazing your highlight tunes are, it’s pretty lame when the same song repeats several times before the video ends.

Starting today in the Premium Highlight Editor, you can add up to three songs to your reel.
Better Voice Recording Support
Until recently, our voice recording system required some clunky old technology to work properly. It was a headache to set up and it wasn’t very reliable. And you could only use it if you were on Internet Explorer on Windows.
Now, you can record voice notes and walkthroughs on any browser that supports Microsoft Silverlight (the same technology that drives our video player). We don’t officially support it on Mac OS yet because there are a few bugs still in the framework.
Better Search for Teams in Exchange
When you create a new exchange, one of the first things you do is find the team you want to trade with. We made the search box much smarter so that it takes into account other teams on your schedule and in your region and lists them first.
Introducing League & Conference Exchange “Pools”
Here’s how our league and conference pools work:
Each week, every team in the league adds their game to a central repository or “pool”. In doing so, they unlock access to all the other game video in the pool. Then, your team can pick and choose what you want to add to your own Hudl library from that repository. At the end of the week, the pool “locks down” and every team has to add more video in order to unlock it. And this cycle repeats throughout the season.
Just like our traditional exchange system, it’s a fair and simple way to do things. And you can tell immediatley if a team isn’t playing by the rules.
This type of exchange is common for college conferences but it can work great for organized high school leagues too. So, if all or most of the teams in your league use Hudl, and you regularly trade video with multiple teams each week, a pool exchange system will be a lot more efficient because you only have to trade your game once each week.
If you’d like to get your league using this style of exchange (it’s free if you use Hudl), email our support team with:
- Your conference or league name.
- Your contact information including the email address you use for Hudl.
- Other teams in your league that use Hudl and would like to be a part of the pool.
Good Luck to Everyone
Many more teams are starting their seasons this week and we want you all to know we’re here to help you win. Thanks!
