Import and Export Your Roster

Import CSV and Excel into Your Roster

How are you going to spend your summer vacation? I know this: you won’t spend more than a few of those precious minutes fiddling with your Hudl roster. Why? Because we’ve finally given you an easy way to import athletes into your roster from an Excel or CSV file.

You can just as easily export your roster to email the booster club or newspaper.

We spent the rest of our time getting Hudl ready for the upcoming season.

Roster Import & Export

For teams just getting started in Hudl, one of the first (unfortunate) hurdles we made them jump was getting all of their athletes in the system.

Usually, this meant a lot of fun copy/pasting from the spreadsheet they had on their personal computers. Our developer, Erik, wanted to make our import system “smart” so that it auto-matches as many of your fields to ours as possible. You may have to assign a few manually or “ignore” them if they don’t make sense in Hudl, but it’s really easy.

Exporting also makes it quick and easy to backup or send your roster elsewhere as needed. Before today, Hudl was a steel trap for your athlete’s information. Not anymore.

More Roster Fields

The new fields are based mainly on your feedback. We wanted to accommodate just the most common fields teams kept in their existing spreadsheets.

Track All your Team's Data

Improved Online Breakdown Editing

Editing breakdown data is one of those things coaches spend a lot of time doing. Anything we can do to make the process more efficient is going to have a big impact and time savings.

Edit Breakdown Data Online Faster One of our developer/designers, Lyle, poured his heart into making the edit breakdown table smarter and faster.

It’s hard to explain everything he did with it. Get in there and try it out. Then let us know what you think.

Pre-Football Season Performance Improvements

It’s no surprise August - November is our busiest time. It’s when the greatest number of coaches and athletes are simultaneously using Hudl.

The development and quality assurance (QA) teams spent a big chunk of the month doing intense performance and stress testing. They’d smash our servers with thousands of simultaneous users, find the parts that were slow, fix those parts up, and repeat…for a whole month.

If we’ve done our jobs, you’ll never notice the fact there are thousands of other Hudl users logged-on at any given time. We just wanted you to know what’s been keeping us busy.

Kyle is a user experience designer at Agile Sports Technologies where he juggles “all things design” for Hudl.
