Answers to Common Exchange, DVD Burning, and Highlight Questions

You’re about half way through the season and have not only experienced the ups and downs on the field, but also on the video front. It’s been an exciting time here, helping you work through some of the trials and triumphs of video editing in the 2011 season. As always, we’re focused on making video editing easier on you and helping you win.

Here are a few topics we’ve been getting questions about:

Exchanges

Has everyone been enjoying Hudl’s online exchange feature? We hope this has saved you from driving two hours on a Saturday morning, and now you’re able to kick back, watch College Gameday and go to work breaking down your film.

Some things to remember:

  • None of your breakdown data is being sent with your exchange unless you explicitly choose to exchange the data.
  • If you upload multiple angles of intercut film, you can choose which angles to exchange. Don’t worry about having to upload multiple times for each angle.
  • If you are the coach receiving the exchange, don’t forget to share that with the rest of your staff and/or team so it appears in their library as well.
  • If you are trying to exchange with a team but can’t find them on the list or duplicate opponents appear in the search, please contact our support team so we can help you.

Burning video to a DVD

Coaches call a lot wondering if they can burn video to a DVD. This can easily be done by using the Hudl Video Editor and choosing Download Project and then Exporting the Video to DVD. This feature allows you to burn any playlist from your online library.

Some things to remember:

  • If you received two separate angles of film from an opponent, you can use the same Download Project button to download each angle individually and intercut them together. See the tutorial here.
  • After completing the intercut, you can burn to a DVD or re-publish to Hudl.com and share out to the rest of your team.

Highlights

Recruiting season is quickly approaching and many of you have already started compiling highlights of your players.  We love seeing athletes and coaches using Hudl to share out their highlight reels and want to clarify a few ways you can share these.

Some things to remember:

  • If you want highlights viewable by the public, go to Manage Privacy and check the box at the top to make them available.
  • To share an athlete’s profile page, send a Recruiting Package or click the Share button above his or her name.  Only coaches are able to send recruiting packages.
  • To burn a player’s highlight clips onto a DVD, use the same Download Project button in the Hudl Video and follow the steps mentioned. Currently, you are only able to download non-premium highlights.
  • If you order a DVD, we’ll ship it within three business days. Allow 5-7 business days for the DVD to get to your door.

Any other questions/problems you’ve run into? Let us know and we’ll do our best to help you as we move forward in the 2011 season. Good luck!
