Common Questions About Storage Limits

One of the distinguishing factors between the Silver, Gold, and Platinum packages in Hudl is storage hours for your opponent scout and practice footage. Those numbers can be a bit confusing, if they come with no explanation.
We’ve put together a list of the most common questions we get regarding storage limits. Hopefully this will help explain exactly how those storage hours work in.
So to start off, we’ll answer just that. How exactly does storage work in Hudl?
Storage limits are set for your opponent scout and practice footage only. You can have as much of your own team’s game footage in your library as you’d like. Many of our teams keep multiple seasons of their game video on Hudl.com. It’s secure, easy to access, and all in one location.
Not sure how much storage you have left? You can see exactly how much storage space you have by going to your manage page and checking the progress bar in the corner of the page.
I’m getting close to my limit. Can I clear video off?
If you check the progress bar and it looks like this weekend’s exchanged film may send you over the top, you can pull the video down to the Hudl Video Editor and delete it from your library, or you can download the video to your computer’s hard drive.
We didn’t think we would ever see the Panthers in the playoffs so we took their video out of our library. They got lucky this year, can we put it back up?
Yes. You can swap video in and out as much as you need. If you put the Panthers’ video on your hard drive, you can just ‘load from file’ in the Hudl Video Editor to put it back up, or just find the project in your Hudl Video Editor and republish it back up to Hudl.com
We exchanged video with another Hudl user. Does that video count against my storage?
Yes. It will go in your library under ‘opponent scout’. As always, you can check your storage progress bar, and pull the video down, if you need to.
Do I have to share my storage hours with other teams at my school that use Hudl?
Storage is divided by sport. That means if you’re sharing your women’s basketball account with your men’s, you’ll be sharing storage as well. The same goes for your football account that’s divided up between JV, Freshman, and Varsity. Your storage hours will be spread across all those teams.
What happens to my storage hours after the year ends?
If you’re just getting back into Hudl this season, your storage will look exactly how you left it last season. If you had 7 hours left, then that’s what your account will reflect. As always, you can go through and clear off any old video you don’t need this season.
Have you completed your Hudl Achievements? Silver packages can earn 2 more hours of storage and Gold can earn 3 more hours by completing your Hudl achievements.
Hopefully that explains Hudl storage hours a little better. If you still have questions, always feel free to contact us - 402-817-0060.
