Camera Covers:  From No Budget to Top-of-the-Line

As fall camp starts up, the last thing on a coach’s mind is worrying about their Friday night camera set up.  You should, however, allot some time during fall camp to check all of your camera equipment and make sure it is in tip-top shape come time for your first game.

It is important to prepare your camera equipment to be used in all types of weather.  We have a solution for every budget to protect against rain, sleet, and snow!

No Budget (Do-It-Yourself)

Supplies:

  • 1 Gallon size re-sealable plastic bag.
  • 1 Plastic Cup
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Permanent Marker

Construction Steps:

1. Place the camera in the bag.  Make sure you have enough room in the bag to open the view finder and to place your hand inside the bag.  Make a circle around the lens about a quarter of an inch larger than the lens.

2. Cut a hole from your markings.

3. Cut a strip from the plastic cup about 2 inches wide and about 4 inches long.

4. Remove the camera from the bag and tape the strip you cut from the cup to the top of the camera.  It should overhang the top of the lens by about 1 inch.

5. Place the camera back in the bag and tape the bag to the camera.

6. When the bag is taped in position, be sure to cut a small hole in the bottom to put the tripod mount.

7. From there, operate the camera as normal by sliding your hand in the bag.
