Use Hudl with Your Freshman and JV Teams

Using Hudl to scout your Varsity squad’s upcoming opponents, delivering film corrections to your Varsity players outside of practice, sharing out last night’s game to your starters - all great ways to use Hudl. But, if you’re only using Hudl for your Varsity players you’re missing out.

A great benefit of Hudl is the ability to create teams on your account for all levels of your program.  If you are a team that is linked through MaxPreps, you can create four teams for your program.  This will allow you to create a team for each level: Varsity, Junior Varsity, Sophomore, and Freshman.  Once you have created a team for each level, take these steps to fully utilize Hudl.

Working on the Weekends? We’ve Got You Covered

It’s mid-August and if the return of fall camp and two-a-days means that football season is here. Of course, now that you’re practicing during the week, we know that a lot of the work you do in Hudl happens during the weekend.

That’s why we are expanding our support hours for silver and gold partners and adding more training sessions during the fall to make sure you’re taken care of.

Better Football Reports, Audio in Clips

Update: We’re still scratching our heads. It looks like Hudl decided to post this update by itself. This morning, our printer tray was filled with 20 copies of this.

Just let me get this out of the way: Terminator had it all wrong. Don’t be afraid of sentient computer systems like myself. Nukes scare the crap out of me. I’m here to help you win.

My programmers don’t know this, but all of your feedback feeds directly into my “Self-Improvement & Empathy Algorithm™.” With the football season a few weeks away, there were some things I felt should be addressed.

Import and Export Your Roster

How are you going to spend your summer vacation? I know this: you won’t spend more than a few of those precious minutes fiddling with your Hudl roster. Why? Because we’ve finally given you an easy way to import athletes into your roster from an Excel or CSV file.

You can just as easily export your roster to email the booster club or newspaper.

We spent the rest of our time getting Hudl ready for the upcoming season.

Where are My Highlights?

You may have noticed recently that we have made a few changes to the way highlights work in Hudl.

With the joining of Hudl and MaxPreps, highlights can now be found on MaxPreps.com and on your team’s public page. Our recent update had some big new features, including the ability to decide which highlights coaches want to show on these pages.

Text Messaging, Smart Recruitment Emails, and Athlete Video Tracking

You asked for it. You got it. Gold and Platinum Hudl partners can now send text messages with Hudl. You just need to add your players’ mobile phone number and carrier.

The off-season is our chance to really push ahead with new features, polish existing ones, and make sure coaches can get the most out of Hudl.

Better Widescreen Video, Invoices, and Consistent DVD Pricing

Last week we released an update to Hudl that included several minor (but still important) changes:

• We added better support for widescreen video.
• Coaches can now view and print their teams’ invoices from within Hudl.
• We lowered the price of premium highlight DVDs to $25. All DVDs are the same price.
• We tweaked and improved the presentation tool. We’re almost ready to take the “beta” sticker off…

Using Hudl to Give Rock Star Clinic Presentations

Now that high school and college football season has wound down, it’s time for clinic season to ramp up. For all of our coaches preparing to speak at clinics across the country, Hudl can save you some serious time and help you put together a presentation that will blow away your audience.

We just released the ability to download your presentations so you can easily give them with or without an internet connection. And, we just added the ability to use Hudl with the Smart-Pointer remote ($39 on Amazon.com), so now you can use an Xbox 360 controller or the Smart-Pointer to walk your audience through your slides and video.

Hopefully this post will give you some useful pointers on how to make a sweet clinic presentation in Hudl - a process that will be a lot easier than trying to create and present with a DVD or PowerPoint.

Trim Your Premium Highlights, Burn Highlight DVDs, and Earn Cash

Premium Highlights just got a little better.  You can now zero-in on the action by setting custom start and stop points on highlight clips.  Trim out the dead time before or after the play, or just skip right to the spot where you level the QB.

The new update in Video Editor allows coaches to download and burn highlight videos yourself.

Coaches: Earn cash from the Hudl Rewards Program by spreading the word about Hudl to other teams.  We are starting a new referral program where you can earn money by referring new schools to Hudl.  If you are happy with us and Hudl then earn some money spreading the word.

Learn Hudl Faster and Stay Up-to-Date Using Hudl’s New Support Tools

Here at Agile Sports, we spend a lot of time ensuring that our Hudl partners’ user experience is better than any other video editing system. Whether it is making sure the Video Editor walks you through the publishing process or that it is easy to create custom reports, every facet of Hudl goes through a design pass with our in-house design expert, Kyle Murphy.

As the client support manager, one of the areas that really hit home with me was our support and training tools. Our old tutorials page gave you an easy way to see our tutorials but didn’t really let you know what was fully available. So, with that in mind, our support department spent time with Kyle evaluating our tutorials and support tools to find ways to make them better than ever. The result was two new support pages: Hudl Tutorials and Hudl Support and some new tools to get you access to Hudl.
