Take Your Video to the Big Screen

Everyone knows video looks better on the big screen. Especially video of your team dominating. Watching your video on a big screen, like a projector or a nice HDTV, is a great way to spot something in your game film you wouldn’t have caught on a smaller screen. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to kick back at home or in your office, in your favorite chair, with your Smart Pointer, and analyze your film in the utmost comfort. We’ve got some tips to help you do just that.

Restore Deleted Playlists & Clean Up Your Library

We’re Here, There, and Everywhere

Our kick-off to the 2011 sales season at this year’s AFCA convention down in Dallas was a success. Thanks to all you coaches who came by the booth or hung out with us post clinic. Like always, we had a blast.

In case we won’t be seeing you at any of upcoming clinics in February, we wanted to make sure you knew what was on our March travel calendar.

Jets One Win From the Super Bowl

Good luck to Coach Rex Ryan and his New York Jets as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2011 AFC Championship.

The Jets have had a great season, and enter the game with an 11-5 record. The teams will face off on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. CT on CBS.

Special Teams Trends of 2010

This is the final segment of our 2010 football trends. We’ve already covered offensive and defensive trends, so this will close the book on our trends of 2010.

Jim Mora, Jim McClurg Join Hudl Board

We’re excited to announce two additions to our board of directors: Jim McClurg and Jim Mora Jr.

McClurg has been involved with the company in some form since it began, and Mora Jr. has worked with our exec team since 2007. It’s great for them to officially join the Hudl team.

The two new additions bring our board to seven members. Both McClurg and Mora celebrate a long list of accolades, and we’re excited to have their talents on board.

Soldier Watches Son’s Games While Overseas

Josh Megginson’s senior basketball season is going just how any high school athlete could hope. He’s had a few Division II colleges express interest in his game, and he’s racked up some impressive stats. There’s only one thing keeping this season from being the best of his career: Josh’s biggest fan, his dad, hasn’t been able to make it to any of his games. Sergeant First Class Keith Megginson is currently serving his third rotation in Afghanistan.

How Oregon Used Hudl to Prepare for Their BCS Championship Game

23 Hudlies were glued to their televisions Monday night as Oregon faced off against Auburn in the BCS Championship Game. While we were disappointed with the final score, it was awesome to see the Ducks go out and play hard. Prior to the game, Matt Mueller gave a behind-the-scenes look at his work with the Ducks in an article for Silicon Prairie News.

Installing the Gun Run and Zone Reads

Oh Snap!

You need to install Silverlight to watch Hudl presentations.

I first learned the gun option game from Art Briles, then head football coach at Stephenville High School, now head football coach at Baylor University. I began helping to implement the gun option game while coaching at
Texas A&M University – Kingsville.

Whatever side of the ball you’re on, this zone-read style of offense is important to understand for one of two reasons:

  • You’re going to want to implement it.
  • You’ll need to understand how to stop it.

Take Your Volleyball Breakdown to the Next Level

How did you break down your volleyball film this past season? We want to make sure that you were able to reap all the benefits of your hard work. We’ve got some tips that will help you get more value out of your video and be ready to take your breakdown to the next level in the 2011 season.

You Should Film More Than Just Your Games

You understand the importance of filming your team’s games. But there are other ways to put that camera to use throughout the year to benefit you and your players.

As we embark on the new year, there is no better time to start getting the most out of your video. Check out three ways our coaches are using video outside of filming games. Maybe one will catch your eye and you can implement it in 2011 (and finally justify the cost of that camera you’ve been eyeing).

Defensive Football Trends of 2010

This is our second installment of football trends we saw during the 2010 season. This time we will focus on the defensive side of the ball.  As before, this is inclusive of teams at all levels. You could have spotted these trends yourself, regardless of whether you watched the game on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
