Summer Football Conditioning Tips

As coaches, we see the calendar year a bit differently. From a program management standpoint, there are three seasons or phases in our calendar year — not four.

We’ve got:

  • Spring  January - May
  • Summer June - July
  • Season August - December

During all seasons we are working, but these three phases dictate what needs to get done during those months. They tell us how we need to train and what we need to focus on to prepare for the next phase.

Summertime is really it’s own entity that we take seriously as a coaching staff at Bishop Gorman. Here is where we plan to focus our time over the next two months:

What Video Solution is Best for My Team?

This summer, while you are camping, biking, boating, or just laying by the pool, chances are you will have coaching on the brain. There are plenty of editing systems out there for you to choose from, and we may be biased, but we think Hudl is the best!

If you are shopping around for next season, there are some important questions to ask before making a purchase.

Import and Export Your Roster

Import CSV and Excel into Your Roster

How are you going to spend your summer vacation? I know this: you won’t spend more than a few of those precious minutes fiddling with your Hudl roster. Why? Because we’ve finally given you an easy way to import athletes into your roster from an Excel or CSV file.

You can just as easily export your roster to email the booster club or newspaper.

We spent the rest of our time getting Hudl ready for the upcoming season.

Hudl and High Definition

High Definition Camera
Update: We have been supporting HD Video since July 2010. See more details here.

We are frequently asked if Hudl is compatible with high definition video.  And why not?  HD cameras are becoming more available and prices have dropped significantly.  Consumer-grade HD cameras are an attractive option for buyers.

We understand the importance of HD.  However, we will not completely support high definition video until we can stream your video online in full HD resolution.  We also understand that you may not need (or expect) this to be available. But, we do hear this one a lot from coaches:

“I just bought a HD capable camera and I want to use it in Hudl.”
