Text Messaging, Smart Recruitment Emails, and Athlete Video Tracking

Hudl Can Text Message Your Players

You asked for it. You got it. Gold and Platinum Hudl partners can now send text messages with Hudl. You just need to add your players’ mobile phone number and carrier.

The off-season is our chance to really push ahead with new features, polish existing ones, and make sure coaches can get the most out of Hudl.

Although text messaging is the marquee feature for this release, there are a number of others.

Here’s what we did:

Hudl Teams with CBS Sports’ MaxPreps.com

We’re excited to officially announce our partnership with CBS Sports’ MaxPreps.com, the most-visited online high school sports destination. MaxPreps’ president, Andy Beal, and his team have worked with us to craft a partnership that benefits all our high school partners.

We’d like to provide a little background on the partnership:

Welcome to Hudl - February 6th-12th

It was yet another big clinic weekend for the Hudl Team. Thanks to all of our partners who stopped by the booth to chat with us about their love of Hudl.  We really enjoy hearing about how Hudl has changed the game for you!

We also want to welcome our newest Hudl partners to the team:

Better Widescreen Video, Invoices, and Consistent DVD Pricing

Hudl Presenter

Last week we released an update to Hudl that included several minor (but still important) changes:

  • We added better support for widescreen video.
  • Coaches can now view and print their teams’ invoices from within Hudl.
  • We lowered the price of premium highlight DVDs to $25. All DVDs are the same price.
  • We tweaked and improved the presentation tool. We’re almost ready to take the “beta” sticker off…

How Film Study Gives Peyton Manning an Edge

There was a great article in the New York Times this weekend that anyone who loves football (players, coaches, and fans) should read. The article, “Peyton Manning’s Case for Being the Best Ever”, describes how Peyton out-prepares the competition each week and the vital role that studying video has played in making him one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

From the article:

Of his thirst for film, Manning said: “I knew that’s where I was going to try to gain some type of edge. I knew I wasn’t going to run away from guys or throw through three guys. My idea was to try to have a good sense of where they were going to be. I never left the field saying, ‘I could have done more to get ready for this team.’ ”

Welcome to Hudl-January 30th-February 5th

We have had a busy week here at Agile and it is only going to get busier as we get further into clinic season. With 10 people on the road this past weekend at 9 different clinics, teams across the country are diving into our trial! We can’t wait to see who will be joining us this week.

We would like to welcome the following schools as the newest members of Hudl:

Hudl Plays Role in Today’s NCAA Signing Day

Today’s NCAA Football Signing Day is well underway. Dating back to post-World War II when soldiers returning home from war were recruited by universities to play football - over the years Signing Day has become quite an American sports tradition. From the Bayou Bash to the FSU War Party, college football fans across the country are dialed in to see what the future looks like for their favorite team.

This National Signing Day will be different from years past. High-tech recruiting advancements have shortened the time it takes for college recruiters to evaluate high school prospects. At the forefront of this shift to high-tech recruiting are websites like Hudl.com that use the same video technology that powers sites like YouTube, Hulu, and Netflix. Just as you would stream last night’s episode of Lost, coaches can use Hudl to stream last night’s game to players and recruiters.

If You Can Play It On Your Computer, You Can Use It In Hudl

One of the challenges we faced when we built Hudl was designing a system that wouldn’t limit our users or force them into specific video formats. We know you don’t just get video on digital tape, so we wanted to build a solution that let you use whatever video you have in the format you have it.

As many of you know from using Hudl, we have conquered this task. Since we designed our own capture tool (and didn’t rely on someone else’s system for capture), we let you have complete control over what video formats you want to use. Hudl handles WMV, AVI, MPEG-2, and DVDs (just to name a few) without any extra work, but that just scratches the surface of what you can and will be able to do in Hudl.
