Happy Holidays from the Hudl Crew!

Happy Holidays to you and your family from all of us here at Agile Sports!

We have enjoyed an awesome 2009, getting to know coaches throughout the country, learning how they get their teams to perform at the highest level, and making Hudl the best tool possible to help them win.

We are very excited to get to know many more teams in 2010 and to share in their successes. Over the next few months, the Hudl team will be on the road traveling to more than 100 clinics around the country.

Canyon Creek Becomes Texas State Champions and NPSAA Div. II National Champions

Back-to-Back State Champions.  That is what the Cougars from Canyon Creek Christian Academy can now be called after beating Legacy Christian Academy 46-34 earlier this month in the TAPPS IV Championship Game.

The Cougars finished 13-0, winning by an average score of 46-15.

Head Coach Larry Thexton and his staff have enjoyed using Hudl to help them dominate the game…before the game even started.

“Hudl gave us an incredible advantage in preparing our players for the opponent each week.  With the ability to add notes to the video, it taught our players how to watch game film.  Each week our players were online watching video during their free time.  I think we may have been one of the best prepared teams in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.  Thank you Hudl Team.”

Hutchinson Tops National Football Rankings & Helps Us Win

Hutchinson, KS #1 National Ranked Football Team

Our company motto is, essentially, “Helping teams win.”

After claiming their sixth consecutive state title, the Hutchinson (Kan.) Salthawks are No. 1 in the nation according to sports ratings specialist Ken Massey. When Hutch wins, we win.

In an interview with the now legendary Kansas coach, Randy Dreiling shares how he shaped a team that once lost 26 games in a row into a national powerhouse.

As a former Salthawk, I’m proud to have been coached by this man. And as representative of Hudl, I’m proud of the way Hutchinson’s coaching staff (and all our pilot school coaches, for that matter) have helped shape our product.

Welcome to Hudl - Week of December 7th

Hey everyone!  Below is a list of the newest Hudl family members in the past week.  We are also very excited about the number of schools signing up a second sport with us.  Remember - it’s half off for the second and third sports! If your football program is already on board, and basketball or wrestling season is just getting under way, give us a call!

Learn Hudl Faster and Stay Up-to-Date Using Hudl’s New Support Tools

Here at Agile Sports, we spend a lot of time ensuring that our Hudl partners’ user experience is better than any other video editing system. Whether it is making sure the Video Editor walks you through the publishing process or that it is easy to create custom reports, every facet of Hudl goes through a design pass with our in-house design expert, Kyle Murphy.

As the client support manager, one of the areas that really hit home with me was our support and training tools. Our old tutorials page gave you an easy way to see our tutorials but didn’t really let you know what was fully available. So, with that in mind, our support department spent time with Kyle evaluating our tutorials and support tools to find ways to make them better than ever. The result was two new support pages: Hudl Tutorials and Hudl Support and some new tools to get you access to Hudl.

The Hudl Team Hits the Road as Clinic Season Begins

Boarding passes are being printed and brochures are coming into the office in large shipments which means only one thing - the 2010 clinic season is about to start for the Hudl team! We are kicking things off this weekend at the NFHS Athletic Directors Convention in Dallas, Texas. I believe I can speak on behalf of everyone in the office when I say it’s our favorite time of year. We get the chance to travel the country and spread the word about Hudl meeting new coaches and touching base with our current partners. These clinics are a time to learn about the frustrations coaches face on a daily basis and either show them how Hudl can alleviate their pains or take their challenges back to the office and work with the development team to come up with solutions.

From the Nike Coach of the Year Clinics to the Frank Glazier Clinics to the AFCA Convention - if there is a coaching clinic, chances are we will be there. Below is a complete listing of coaching conventions we are attending through January. If you are in the area and aren’t familiar with Hudl, come check out why we are the fastest growing video editing solution in the nation. If you are a current Hudl partner swing by and ask questions, check out our new features, or just say hi and get some free Hudl swag.

In the Hudl Airs Tonight

Joe Ganz - In the Hudl

Update: Watch Joe’s Dec. 8th “In the Hudl” segment.

Once again Joe Ganz will be ‘In the Hudl’ on Big Red Wrap-Up tonight.  As he’s been doing all season, Joe will break down a play from Saturday’s Big 12 Championship loss to Texas.

I’ve been helping Joe out with the segments as he uses Hudl Pro to break down the game for the rest of us fans. Each week we choose a play from the game that demonstrates an offensive concept, whether it’s a good read by the quarterback, the correct play call against a certain defense, or something else. Understandably, defensive struggles like that with Texas don’t provide many plays to choose from, but that’s why the ability to dig in and find the good to learn from is crucial for today’s players and coaches.

Congrats to the Bishop Gorman Gaels - 2009 Nevada State Champions!

Hudl - Bishop Gorman

Another Hudl partner was crowned state champion over the weekend, as the Bishop Gorman Gaels (Las Vegas, Nev.) dominated the Del Sol Dragons, 62-21, to win the Nevada Class 4A State Championship on Saturday.

The Gaels finished the season with a perfect 15-0 record, winning 10 games by 40 or more points (including three playoff games) and earning the No. 1 ranking in the state.

First-year head coach Tony Sanchez and his staff have enjoyed using Hudl to help them dominate the game.

“Hudl is extremely user friendly,” Coach Sanchez said. “I’ve dealt with a lot of different editing systems at previous schools and Hudl is by far the best. The ability to use it from any computer is incredible.”

No-Shave November

Agile Sports Post-Shave Fun

This year, a number of members of our team decided to participate in “No-Shave November”, an event that apparently is growing in popularity nationwide.

Some of our guys decided to get a head start on the month-long event. Kyle Murphy (our lead designer) started growing his beard in early October – sadly, by the second week of November, Kyle gave in to pressure on the home front (no disrespect, Courtney… the beard was getting pretty long) and shaved the six-week growth off his face. Many of the rest of us trudged onward, though, causing people who would encounter us on the street to wonder what was going on at Agile Sports.

Welcome to Hudl - Week of November 23rd

Well apparently time got away from me for a bit.  The good news: I have lots of names to share.  We are excited to have all of the teams below on board, several of which are just wrapping up the football season, while others are getting set for basketball season. No matter the sport, it’s always a good time to get in the Hudl!

Timpview Takes Fourth Straight 4A Utah State Title

Timpview Wins Utah Title

Congratulations to the Timpview High School Thunderbirds on their 35-6 victory last weekend against Springville, their long-time regional rival, in the 4A Utah state championship title game at University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium. As predicted, the T’Birds lightning fast offense led by star quarterback Trevor Brown plowed through Springville early on in the game and allowed Timpview to finish the season with an amazing 542 points on the year. Brown is currently being recruited by top programs across the nation including Kansas, LSU, BYU, Utah and Utah State.

Behind-the-Scenes Look at Hudl from Big Red Wrap-Up

Hudl - Behind the Scenes In this Tuesday’s edition of the Big Red Wrap-Up, former Nebraska quarterback Joe Ganz interviews John Wirtz (our COO) and me to provide a ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at Agile Sports and Hudl.

Earlier in the show, Joe breaks down one of running back Rex Burkhead’s key runs from last Friday’s win over Colorado. Click here to check out the segment.

Also, check out past “Joe Ganz - In the Hudl” segments:

Hudl Returns to Big Red Wrap-Up Tonight

Joe Ganz - In the Hudl

Hudl will be featured fairly prominently on Big Red Wrap-Up tonight on NET Sports.  Joe Ganz will be breaking down a play from Friday’s win over Colorado (similar to the breakdowns he has done earlier this season), and then Joe will be interviewing John Wirtz and me for a segment on Agile Sports and the growth of Hudl.

Shakir Bell runs away with Indiana state rushing record

Warren Central running back, Shakir Bell, set a new Indiana (5A) HS state rushing record this season.  Bell finished his senior campaign with 3,081 yards on the ground - most ever in Indiana (5A) history.  He also tallied 38 touchdowns for third most in school history.

Millard South Patriots Win Nebraska Class A Championship

Millard South 2009 NE Champions

The Patriots had an amazing season all the way through their rematch with the Millard West Wildcats who defeated the Patriots in last year’s Class A championship. It was great to see both of these Hudl teams make it to the championship and the whole crew here at Agile cheering them on in the big game.

Coach Andy Means of Millard South and Coach Kirk Peterson of Millard West were two of the very first high school coaches to sign up for Hudl when we rolled out our Hudl pilot program in the spring of 2008. Both coaches and their staffs have been instrumental as we’ve adapted the system we created for the NFL and top collegiate teams to the needs of high school coaches and athletes.

In addition to Millard South and Millard West, two other Hudl teams played in the state champtionships - Coach Turman and his Skutt Catholic SkyHawks were the Class B runners-up and Coach Ashby and the Giltner Hornets were the Class D1 runners-up. Congratulations to all our NE Hudl teams that dominated this season!
