Pittsburg State Logo

On Sunday, November 1, the Pittsburg State women’s basketball team will tip off their 2009-10 season against the Kansas Jayhawks at historic Phog Allen Fieldhouse. To prepare for their matchup with a Division I opponent, Head Coach Lane Lord (2009 WBCA Regional Coach of the Year) and staff are using Hudl daily.

Fort Osage High School Dominating with Hudl in the Show-Me State

Fort Osage Indians

Joe Kazmar - writer for The Record in Orange County, TX - was recently introduced to Hudl on a trip up to Kansas City, MO where he spoke with Fort Osage High School football coaches Brock Bult and Jon Oyler. In an article from Kazmar, he touches on some of the reasons why Fort Osage has really latched onto the software. The Indians are 9-0 this season and poised to do some damage in the playoffs.

Over the next few days, we’ll pass along more tips about how you can best use these new features, but I wanted to take a chance to explain that shiny new Feedback button on the right-side of your Hudl menu and how you can use it to make Hudl better for you.

It’s been a month since our last release and we’ve already got another one. As always, leave us your thoughts in the comments section. Your feedback is the reason we can continue making Hudl better and better.

Here’s what’s new and changed in this release:

Welcome to Hudl - Week of October 15

Hey everybody.  This last week seemed to fly by.  Not letting it get away from me, here is this week’s list of our newest Hudl family members.

Joe Ganz Back ‘In the Hudl’ Tonight on NET

In the Hudl - Joe Ganz Nebraska Texas Tech

Former Husker quarterback Joe Ganz will be using Hudl Pro again tonight on Big Red Wrap-Up to break down one of the touchdowns from last Saturday’s Nebraska-Texas Tech football game.

The show will air statewide in Nebraska at 7 p.m. CT on NET and will also be available live online. This is the third week Ganz has used Hudl to break down a key play for Husker fans - following the Virginia Tech game in September, Ganz highlighted a key block that led to one of running back Roy Helu’s biggest runs of the game, and following the Missouri game Ganz highlighted a key touchdown pass to Niles Paul.

Where are Hudl's Partners?

Have you ever wanted to know which teams in your area use Hudl? We thought coaches would find this Google Map of all Hudl’s partners a useful way to find out exactly that.

‘Facebook for Football’ Helps Kansas Teams Win

Forty-five Kansas football programs have gotten in the Hudl this season, taking the way they connect with players to a new level.

Players are used to being tapped in - from Twitter to texting - constantly throughout their day. These coaches know connecting with players off the field in a way they find familiar and engaging is the best way to keep their attention and - most importantly - get them to retain the information.

Welcome to Hudl - Week of October 8

Phew. Apparently I missed a week already.  My apologies for those who missed it, but last week I was busy talking to coaches and soaking up the sun at the Florida Athletic Coaches Assocation Fall Clinic in Daytona.  Thanks to those that stopped by!  Below are the newest members of the Hudl team for the past TWO weeks.

Using Text Messaging and Email to make Hudl an Uber Coaching Machine

Hudl Video Quiz Question

We love hearing coaches telling us that Hudl has helped their athletes watch more video, learn more from it, and really enjoy doing it. Ultimately, that’s what Hudl is all about - helping athletes improve. We’ve heard of athletes watching the game together at Hudl pizza parties, texting coaches as soon as they get home asking when practice video will be on Hudl, and creating and sharing their own video notes to teammates to highlight an opponent’s weakness. We’ve recently seen a handful of coaches go a step further in Hudl and use text messages and email combined with Hudl video notes in pretty creative ways to get their teams even more engaged in learning off the field.

Joe Ganz ‘In the Hudl’ Tonight on NET

In the Hudl - Big Red Wrap-Up

Former Husker quarterback Joe Ganz will be using Hudl Pro to break down one of the key touchdowns from last Thursday night’s Nebraska-Missouri football game tonight on Big Red Wrap-Up.

The show will air statewide in Nebraska at 7 p.m. CT on NET and will also be available live online. This is the second week Ganz has used Hudl to break down a key play for Husker fans - following the Virginia Tech game in September, Ganz highlighted a key block that led to one of running back Roy Helu’s biggest runs of the game.

Netflix’s Solid End-to-End Experience

Netflix Email to Kyle

Working as a user experience (UX) designer has forced me to notice the little details that make a big difference in how people perceive a product or service.

Netflix is one company that nails those details. We’re eager to do the same with Hudl.

Welcome to Hudl - Week of September 24

Last week we pulled our “Get in the Hudl…” tweets off Twitter (if you are not following us currently check us out). We have really enjoyed adding a lot of teams to Hudl over the summer and we realized that our tweets had started dominating some people’s Twitter feeds.

We love being able to broadcast our newest partners (and we got some feedback from current Hudl partners asking us to continue this) so we are planning to post on this blog weekly with the newest teams that are in the Hudl. This way you can know which teams in your area are available for you to use our awesome new film exchange to trade film with.

In the Hudl: Helping the 3-0 Jets Dominate the Game

Jets' Mark Sanchez uses Hudl

Those of you who follow us on Twitter may have seen our tweets the other weekend from the New York Jets-New England Patriots game at the Meadowlands. Matt Mueller (our Client Support Manager who many of you have probably spoken with on the phone) and I both attended the game and witnessed what was the loudest and most energetic crowd I have ever seen at the Meadowlands (a claim many Jets coaches backed up).

It has been awesome to see many of our Hudl Pro partners have a great start to the season. The Jets are currently sitting at 3-0 heading into this week’s game with the New Orleans Saints, and new head coach Rex Ryan and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez are having awesome starts with their new team.
